This statement alone discredits all your other statements. Most people that have untreated sleep apnea do NOT know that they have it. I sure didn't, and my apnea was severe.

Well here is a test for sleep apnea that doesnt need a doctor, but based on their criteria for doing testing, go under the truck and do a proper grease job if you cant your BMI is too high and you most likely will have a sleep disorder.

Well, all I know is before the test I never got great sleep even in the best conditions. Would fall asleep on a dime. Snored to high heaven. 6'0 300 pounds when diagnosed. Now that I have my machine haven't slept better. Sorry if those of you whinning that is a scam don't believe me but that is just how it is.

I call BS. If they have a 'severe' sleep disorder. They would know it, period. You happened to buy into it. This is not entirely my view, but comes straight out of the mouth of my doctor, a very candid conversation about this topic. Whom happens to be employed by the Mayo Clinic(they don't hire quacks).

I already know what my doctor would say, as he said it to me... You likely don't have a sleep problem, you have a weight problem. Take care of that, and the sleep issue disappears.

You could be a rare case that has a sleep disorder, as I've said... some people do, but it is rare and certainly doesn't require blanket testing.

How get your doctor to issue one of those disability cards so you can park in the disabled parking spots, I am not kidding they seem to be the only ones that are open late at night when you need to park. May as well work with it.

Couldn't agree more. The sleep apnea "industry" is a huge money maker. A CPAP (Crap) machine forces more room air into a person. If you are that bad off, you need to be on an oxygen machine.

There are NO Govt regulations to say we have to go for a sleep apnea test. Nothing is on the books. Those clowns at FMCSA tried to sneak in some regs thru the back door but got stopped in their tracks.
there is absolutely no evidence sleep apnea causes accidents. Let's face it. This is what it's all about. If, and it's a big IF, that it did cause accidents then let's get everyone tested, including the folks that drive 4-wheelers. Are they immune from this condition? So why pick on us? Some trucking cos such as Schneider have decided in their infinite wisdom to mandate testing, and that's their prerogative, but again, there's no law in place, as yet. It's going to take awhile for it to happen. Unfortunately I'm of the opinion that this kind of thing is another excuse for some of us to exploit and will make them a lot of $$$. That's just the way it is in this country when it comes to healthcare. Greed and profit over rides common sense and taking care of the genuinely sick.
