The frequency allowed for short wave diathermy operations is under the control of the Federal Communications Commission. The frequencies assigned for short wave diathermy operations are 13.66, 27.33, and 40.98 megahertz. Most commercial machines operate at a frequency of 27.33 megahertz and a wavelength of 11 meters.

Wow... the company I worked for did this research for cancer at one time and to think that they could have run down to the local truck stop 7 miles away, got a hold of a 100W amp from the shelf and saved $3000 is amazing .... NOT!
I don't know about pseudo scientists but those who work under FDA regulations just can't use anything to prove something or experiment with something with humans or animals for that fact, it has to be a documented device with a paper trail of where it came from, and in this case it has to be precise and clean - meaning not having a crap load of harmonics (which defeats the scientific purpose). the last time I looked, the sale of these devices were made through places that knew what they were doing and no where did they also sell CBs. -
I also recognize that is is a small percentage of drivers who stray off the regular 40 channels. These, I have no quarrel with. Those who cling to the" outlaw rebel" image, yes, I DISRESPECT them: I do not respect a lawbreaker. And before you start with the (singsong voice and sarcasm ON) with "DID you ever break the speed limit, blah, blah, blah", I haven't had a moving violation since 1981 (sarcasm OFF). And, yes, I drive vehicles, cars AND trucks commercially now part-time. I use CB to find out where the traffic is, avoid jams, and then turn it OFF. Otherwise, I stay on the amateur bands.
Funny...............I found it curious that one would think that a hospital would rush down to the LOCAL truck stop to get an amplifier. I am sure that hospitals must adhere to the same rules of spectral purity as anyone else (filtering), and I doubt they'd be using a "Texas Star" for diathermy. Could be wrong, but I doubt it. You see, IF they were allowed to do that, happened to be near an airport and messed up the avionics, there'd be some H- to pay! -
Typical leftist tactics of evasion. Ignore the main points and pick the lesser ones which you think prove your case. So from your information I should conclude the cycling noise which held steady on certain channels while at the same time a cycling noise drifted in frequency from 27 to 29 MHZ (the area where I encountered it, not necessarily the full range it existed) a block from the hospital all day every day was caused by what? UFO's? After all as you say they have regulated frequencies for diathermy and the incredibly strong signals I was bombarded with for years had to be coming from somewhere. An interference which decreased as one listening in with mobile gear drove further away from the hospital in any direction. As you say it couldn't have been their medical equipment the FCC made sure of that. Perhaps you have a suggestion as to the real source?
"pseudo scientists"? You mean like Tesla and Edison for today this is exactly what the mainstream would call them based upon the way they worked. Oddly enough Tesla managed to power all of civilization and Edison gave us B movies and the soon to be outlawed light bulb (which successfully lit the world for generations). Both (as well as many others) working in what today would be looked at as "pseudo labs". OK, to give credit to your case government run big labs did give us nuclear weapons. To be honest I much prefer B movies and incandescent lights. Not as hard on the furniture as it were.
"but those who work under FDA regulations" have spent many billions over decades yet cancer is not cured and antibiotics are failing. MRSA's are growing out of control, hospitals today are where you go to get sicker than you were when you walked through the door. The FDA is one of the largest line pockets with money scams ever perpetrated upon humanity. The mainstream hot fusion crowd has equally squandered many billions over decades yet still burn dead rotting organic material from ages gone by to get to work and power their homes. As do we all. How is that working out for you? Insanity is doing the same thing endlessly expecting different results and all with wisdom can see the lack of results. Unless of course they are crazy like a fox and money is what it's all really about. You failed to mention the 'company you worked for' while in your eyes legitimate, never bothered to cure cancer, never looked into the research of Rife, and has done little if anything to justify the expense.
Number of deaths for leading causes of death: (From the CDC for 2010)
- Heart disease: 597,689
- Cancer: 574,743
- Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 138,080
- Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 129,476
- Accidents (unintentional injuries): 120,859
- Alzheimer's disease: 83,494
- Diabetes: 69,071
- Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 50,476
- Influenza and Pneumonia: 50,097
- Intentional self-harm (suicide): 38,364
Does anyone think it's time to believe less in 'mainstream medicine' and put more effort into alternative studies? With MERS, MRSA, EBOLA, WEST NILE, failing antibiotics, the endless waste of billions with little to show in the way of cures for the highest ranking killer disease (heart disease and cancer), and never ending 800 number ads on TV for lawsuits concerning the horrible consequences of FDA approved drugs one would think it is unwise to hold such complete faith in what you are calling 'mainstream' and start devoting more time into the studies you term 'pseudo science'.
Another point worth considering is I am not so sure you should put so much faith in your gods at your beloved FCC since they are now working very diligently towards stripping the internet of the freedoms we have had for many years. It would be wise to take a long hard look at the ever increasing 'power' they are claiming they have which has never been authorized by law.
I notice neither of you bothered to address the real point which was the way gadfly demonized an entire class of Americans over the 'habits' and manner of speaking he implies is the 'normal vernacular' for them. Typical.

noun: vernacular; noun: the vernacular
1.
the language or dialect spoken by the ordinary people in a particular country or region.
"they try to keep their own house clean"; you should spend more time listening to 20 meters when they have their west coast wars.
"If they didn't, it would become, well...........................like CB"
You say this as if CB is such a low class 'bad thing'. Again I must wonder why is it you spend so much time on a CB forum on a truck driver's website. After all if one looks at the numbers and choice of radios used in 18 wheelers hands down CB still outnumbers ham rigs.
gadfly "Those who cling to the" outlaw rebel" image, yes, I DISRESPECT them: I do not respect a lawbreaker."
Was this a reference to my 'handle' on this site? Why yes I think it was. You are not saying anything I had not concluded about you years ago. After all this equally applies to our Founding Fathers and I am quite positive you would have turned George Washington into the King of England in gleeful anticipation of your reward. America would have never existed if you would have been around to have your way. By the way I am both honored and humbled that you would include me in such an illustrious group of great men. One can also conclude you are basing your 'disrespect' solely upon a 'name' which further illuminates your character since you clearly stated this fact. Equally obvious is the uselessness of further conversation with this as your position. A 'name' alone does not encompass the value of a person nor does it provide enough information to judge said person. History has many examples of demonizing people based upon a 'name'.
gadfly "Funny...............I found it curious that one would think that a hospital would rush down to the LOCAL truck stop to get an amplifier."
So do I considering I never stated this anywhere. Why this must mean you are being dishonest, disingenuous, in general twisting words, quite simply making false statements in effort to enhance your position to the detriment of your opponent. In days gone by mendacities would be the word used to describe your statements. I very clearly stated there are thousands of people doing research into the theories of Rife using the amplifiers you love to hate. What I stated is true. However I must wonder how it is you think by making false statements and telling lies, saying I said things I did not say (one merely needs to read my previous post), translates into some greater 'truth' which makes your point the correct one. What I do see is the way in which you illuminate your true character for all to see which have eyes to see. As to the rest, no concern to me. I rarely post on this forum as long ago I made my assessment as to the character and nature of the 'core group' who inhabit this domain. Not worth my time. You can have your 'channel' back now. I am sure many consider you the guru god of radio. I however do not. Plenty of room left on the server for you to fill the remaining pages with your delusions of grandeur and self perceived righteousness. I have more important things to do. Life is too short to waste it on the likes of you.Last edited: May 18, 2014

Hmmmm... Maybe you need to read more carefully. Clearly said how they are marketed and further clarified I was not saying how they are used. The point which I have to assume blew by you is that lots of things sold, not just limited to radio, can be misused.
Decades ago there was a case where a dirtbag ran a car through a schoolyard full of kids. It was later disclosed that he was unable to obtain a gun though he tried. So he used a car to carry out his filthy mission. Should we then outlaw blue Chevies because that was his weapon of choice?
How about software and video DVD's... How many copy protection schemes have been developed over the years? How long did it take to defeat them? There will always exist those who find a way.
Go on Ebay... There are numerous sellers that have plans for easy to construct amps broadband amps. Should be deconstruct the first amendment to ensure we have a harmonic free RF band?
To boil it down... If a ham can use a cheap amp legally , and operate it within required specs, let him. If some scientist somewhere needs an RF AMP let him have it. I tend to be somewhat Libertarian in my views. In short I am against over regulation. If an INDIVIDUAL breaks the rules let him take the chance of paying the price.mike5511 Thanks this. -
Using linear on CB is crazy. No one will bother you if you wander a couple channels above and below the regular channels, even the FCC.I enjoyed CB in the early 70's where groups would stay on a certain channel and be polite. Then the FCC forgo the licenses , then came the musical carriers and people running heavy wattage preaching sermons.I just collected 5 prime vintage radio's and turn them on to listen to 19 until I get a ham license.I only have a dipole antenna as I really do not want to interfere with my neighbors.I have a cobra I might install in my car with a magnetic mount just to see whats holding up traffic. Emergencies I have my cell phone on 24/7.

There is one shop 40 miles from me. I was going to have a couple of radio's aligned. I had a guy in New Hampshire who wet through my Demco Satellite once a year, cleaning it and making sure everything was on frequency. It was a tube set with crystals.I should never have sold that beauty.

I won't apologize for my disdain for lawbreakers. They deserve to be ridiculed. I use CB when driving trucks and cars. Amateur as a hobby and public service. Military bands for SAR. I talk where I am authorized and don't "invade" where I don't belong. It just so happens that CB has the most 'rebel' attitude when it comes to ignoring the rules AND the rights of other radio users. I will ridicule as an expression of frustration at the invaders of 10 meters! Hospitals certainly are NOT intentional invaders!
