I guess you will have to define what exactly a "short haul" is? Id rather run 3-400 miles a day at 3.50-5 per mile… vs 600 miles a day at 2.50-3.00 a mile…..

you may have been at it long but, its obvious to all your not doing very well at it if your here complaining about your rates, those are your rates not mine. You don't see me on here complaining about rates coming out of miami…because I don't go there because although its possible to find something decent out of S florida, odds are its not gonna happen.

It's all about bottom line and quality of life . I'd rather not stress over wondering whether it's time to feast or starve . There were a lot of freedom ideas that I liked about land star and I understand how to use the tools to figure out which lanes are hot , it's a seasonal thing , like Xmas trees in the NW in December . I just got tired of chasing freight . I have no truck payment , 100 dollars a month in workers comp , that's my only fixed expense now .

This is a trip to Indy that nets me 81 cents a mile . Always brand new equipment and a hotel every night. There are people in my business that make much more than that , consistently 3 k a week or more .

A two dollar a mile load at LS will pay 1.34 a mile to the truck . Fuel , at 6 mpg and 4 dollars a gallon , just rounding up, will cost about 65 cents a mile . Now we're at 70 cents a mile , - 6 cpm for maintenance , that's .64 , before a truck payment , workers comp. , major repairs ....deadhead .... cross your fingers no thanks

I'll say this that 11.00 fuel discount on 234 gallons is nothing to write home about .. Just under 0.05 a gallon ... But I guess some is better than nothing . But I thought folks were bragging on the LS fuel discounts days back on here .. Don't look too impressive ..

Being all about the bottom line sounds kinda like a cleshay .. It's been my experience in the past.
( not saying you are in this group ) but normally when a person says it's all about the bottom line don't know how to tell you their numbers to operate . Nor do they know how to decrease their variables to maximize profits .

Again not directing that at you but it's normally the case
