Your comment prime example of why I have a beef with some of you know it all drivers. You brag like you know it all but don't explain in detail. Y'all act like maybe giving a secret to maybe 10 people that read this thread will steal your possible GEMS as you say. Me on other hand an open book and really love the feeling I get helping others drivers so we the 0/0 's can try to grow and NOT diminish to keep from being eliminated by all these laws trying to affect us further. I understand I and others have to learn but why not help cut the learning curve for us as you know it's to expensive to do that learning curve compared to y'all learning it years ago when cheaper to do so. But no it's a big secret, let's be a bragger. REDICULOUS!!!!

It really ain't rocket science. Do what others are unwilling to do. If you desire bankers hours with the simplest of requirements no surprises that's what most other drivers look for also. Now why would anyone pay a rate on that when everyone is scrambling to do loads like that? Exactly. If you happen to cover loads on occasion with over the top rates that are simple and have bankers hours now and then, well, you've just figured out a hot market. No-one can tell you cause that stuff can change daily or hourly. You just have to be out there in the trenches learning this stuff.

Some markets are always hot, pulling a flatbed from the Midwest going east always pays top dollars specially like what Rollin coal said when a load requires more work(extra pu,multiple drops, tarps etc..)also what time of the day it is or what day it is.if you pulling a reefer you have to learn the different seasons for different freight for every region of the country.Dont be afraid to deadhead two or three hundred miles for a good load and be professional and polite and don't get offended by what brokers may say,lot of times they call me back agreeing to the rate I requested.lot of guys will tell you to build a good relationship with one or two brokers but I totally disagree,I will haul for whoever pays me more.keep an eye on the load boards thru out the day and if you c a load that aain't moving that's a sign:the broker may be willing to pay a little extra to move it.
