Question for you about the elogs (I'm getting them installed later today): Is there a way to invoke the two extra driving hours, per 395.1(b)?

I havent seen anything on the elog specific to invoking that rule. I suspect that it would be like paper in that you just do it, and add an explanation of your reasons. I sent paper logs in like that several times, and never got dinged for it.

I have only had it in the truck for a couple of weeks, so i haven't figured everything out about it yet.

Ok. So I finally have enough data collected to make a "real" declaration about my mileage in this truck. Turns out the real numbers are as follows.
75 mph cruise, averages out to 6.62mpg.
70 mph cruise, averages out to 6.87mpg.
65 mph cruise, averages out to 7.67
60 mph cruise, averages out to 8.01

Bobtail, at 70, she gets 14.54mpg
Hauling an empty trailer at 70, she gets 8.5mpg, and at 65, she gets 9.0mpg

Ok, so looks like im going to be hanging out around 65mph from here on out. Nice to know the ability to go faster is there, but I aint going to be using it much. lol

Currently running a 2 stop load that finals in missoula so I can get these absurdly vibrating rear tires replaced.
Counting mileage run this month, on day 7, I am sitting at 3200 miles so far, and barely have a usable amount of hours left for today. Tomorrow I start running off the top of the recap.

Been a rough couple of days.....
#. Lost my wiper motor in pouring rain heading into salt lake city... $285 repair.
#. Screwed up my calculations on how many hours I had coming off the top for the 1st time since I started trucking, and had to beg dispatch to re power the load. Miss read the elogs recap.
#. have an intermittent air leak in somewhere in the rear of the truck... sometimes the airbags are flat when I wake up, sometimes not. And I can't find it.
#. I see im loosing just a little coolant... not much, maybe a 1/4 inch over the last week....but I can't see a leak anywhere.
#. and lastly my fiances dad just went into the hospital last night, and isnt expected to last the week. Final stages of Cancer. ;-/

yeah. its been one of those weeks.

As if I wasn't having a rough enough week....My fiance's father passed on Yesterday. And Now.....im down in salt lake with a serious coolant leak. most likely the radiator. Gonna have to take her to the dealership in the morning to see what this is gonna cost me. ::sigh::

Well...... why did I want my own truck so bad? $3400 for a new radiator, overflow tank, PLUS a new load leveling valve. The valve is likely from the vibrating tires, the rest.... ::sigh:: that's most likely from the truck sitting in a dealer yard during this last ultra cold winter. Gotta scrape up the money somehow. Not much choice.
a little pissed at dispatch though. I TOLD them i would most likely be stopping for repairs, and I had been told this was not a problem, as there was no rush on this load at all.... Now...that i HAVE stopped, I got chewed out for not leaving the paperwork with the trailer, because they want to repower the load since I will be stopped for 2 days.
    I cant win....

    So catching up.
Got fixed in salt lake, for an absurd amount of money. Got a load to Helena from bonnie (Thank you!). Now sitting in Helena since Saturday, waiting for something to missoula.
Kinda funny (yet annoying)... When i parked in helena, all the company trucks were quietly parked... since most dont have APU's anymore. So, trying to be polite, I parked in a different area of the lot to avoid forcing them to listen to the noise of my APU.... well.... my APU's alternator died not to long after I parked, shutting the APU off.... So given the overload of electronics I have in here, Im kinda forced to idle... So i Do...thinking I wasnt going to be bugging anyone over here in this dark corner of the parking lot.... Well.... I woke up, and have a couple of quiet trucks parked next to me. lol... opps... sorry guys, I was trying to be considerate!
On the list of things to be dealt with still.. Need the new super single tires our tire shop promised. Need to get them balanced, and a 6 wheel alignment. AND now need to get the APU fixed ;-/
and while im tying this, got a call to go grab a talc load.
    Gotta run.

::sigh::.... well, the Missoula tire shop took care of my tire issues this morning. Unfortunately, that was the only "good" news of the day. The replacement tires balanced ok, but when it came time to do the alignment, well.....worn out bushings, bearings, new tie rod assembly.... ect... with labor... $1300 bill..........again.........
And I STILL have to go in in the morning to yet a 4th place, to get the APU looked at, because i ran out of time today.
Its past the point of "really want", and has moved to the realm of "REALLY NEED" a few months without "repairs"....
I can deal with "normal maintenance", but any more "repairs", and this whole endeavor may come to a crashing halt due to lack of money.
    The numbers....
When i left home, I had exactly $15,000 in the "fund", for the truck, and to live on while things settled down into what was hopefully a decent relationship between me and my truck.
1 month and 10 days after I picked up the truck.... That money is gone. (not 100% truck related, had some home life issues to deal with like my fiances father passing).

So, including truck generated income.... I have $3200 in the bank as I write this....

Wanna know how to make a small fortune owning a truck?
    Simple....start with a large fortune.....

Im suffering a lack of faith here.... give me a few weeks of decent running to get my spirits back up.
