It warrants an ### whooping if caught, IMO.

I check the handle every time I stop, right before I get back into the truck.... I figure I'm a rookie and could easily piss someone off and not even realize it....

That is a story told by instructors in truck driving school designed to teach you to always check your 5th wheel.

This why I have a habit of setting the trailer brakes, the pull a bit before setting the truck brakes. You can't pull the handle.

if i was that mad to do something like that i'd rather take it out of the driver..... in 17 years of driving i've only heard of it happening once. However backing under and not checking i've seen twice. once where it blocked an on ramp to I-20... actually went nearly a half mile before he turned and the trailer didn't

Years ago, a former coworker did this on my truck. 45,500 lbs of copper ore in super sacks in the trailer, during the pull test I squirted most of the way out from under it, left the nose of the trailer sitting on the back edge of the frame. Took 4 of us, in turns, in low gear, cranking that sucker up so that I could get back under it. Company knew who did it, could never prove it, I understand he got his a few years later as an O/O.......

I always check mine because you never know. Just a habit now.

I don't know who would do this kind of $!)). But in MY world, he SHOULD experience "Death from Above"!!!:biggrin_25522::biggrin_25522::biggrin_25522:

back in the day, it cost a dime to make a call in a pay phone. when the rest of us had a little fun, theres was always the guy who wanted to called and rat you out to the company , he go to the pay phone drop in a dime and make the call, thus the term dimedropper for ratty worthless individual who spoiled everyones ones fun.

during my days back in the early 80's with ploof truck lines of j,ville, fl several dimedroppers got their pin pulled along I-10 when they ratted guys out

but an even better way than pulling someones pin, is to simply take a quarter , remove the red air line, and place the quarter on the gladhand seal and hook the airline back so that the quarter is between the two seals and blocks the air from releasing the trailer brakes.

it will be the last thing anyone checks for.
