You're not that far from Detroit. Do I need to say more.
I grew up in N.W. Ohio. Skipped school one day to go to Albion and get a set of headers for my car..
Right from the factory.
Pulled into the house that after noon and my Mom goes how was school today?
I should of known then the gig was up..
Seems my Dad stopped at the school to drop off some papers and was asked if I was feeling ok. My dad as far as I know he's good, why? Well he not in school today.. Busted

 

Nice, I was busted a few times for "authoring" my own note to explain my absence from school. I just said to my mom ,hey you wanted me to show initiative ......

 

I skipped school to haul corn from the farm to town. Should very known better. My parents saw the truck loading at the bin site. Stopped to say hello. Oops

 

The questions was about IN and IL. My comment was for Indiana . now Illinois is a pain. Being as they refer to LARGE vehicles being limited to 1-5 miles For limited movement without permit. For food,rest. Ect.
But then as you mentioned he needs a permit being longer than what they designate as legal.

But as it states if he can reasonably disassemble his lenght. refer to the 2nd to last bullit in the pic. Talks about permitted LARGE vehicles exceptions for Illinois.

So. If he can get under 60' as it states in IL. He has a fighting chance to move.
