Lol....on a positive note my load of salt was in these huge white bags and I had to tarp it. There were 2 Wylie drivers there and they helped me as well as a Prime driver. One of the Wylie guys had to take off but the other guy stayed. I felt so bad for him because he was obvious sick and Had a really bad cough. I told him he didn't have to help, but he did it any way. I hope he'll be okay. But then Murphy's law kicked in. The brake lights on the trailer died. After doing some basic troubleshooting, I had to call fleet net. Again. They won't be able to fix it until tomorrow and I'm out of hours to drive any way. These are LED lights. The lights are okay, it 's just the wiring. I noticed the wiring had a lot of splice jobs. The load will get there eventually.

05/22/14-I finally got my salt load delivered. It turns out that the TA did a crappy job fixing the trailer lighting. It turned out to be the pigtail where you plug into the trailer. I had told the guy at the TA he might need to replace it because it was loose. I guess he didn't get authorization to fix it because it was working at the time. Total bill from the TA and the mech shop in Hobbs NM $500+. SMDH. Which could of been prevented if they would just let them fix It right the first time. I guess most large companies do that, just fix it enough to get it going. Which turns out to cost them more money when the item breaks down again. They got double billed for a job. If it was me, I rather stay an extra 2 hours and get it fixed right for good the first time rather then have it break again a day later. If it was a real major job then I can understand you patching it up until you can get the truck to the terminal and give the driver a loaner truck. I'm glad I'm waiting a few years before I get my first truck so I can see and learn not what to do. Well any way I'm currently in Henderson Texas waiting for my next load.

Picking up lumber from Pinetown Texas going to San Antonio Texas! I'll be home for the weekend!
Sweet! I'm the first one at the shipper. I'm parked across the street. If they don't take like 2 hours loading me, tomorrow, and If there are drivers around willing to help me tarp, I can deliver this load the same day. If not it'll be Tuesday.

You sure get a lot of help out there. That's good! Heck you may as well get a chair and let them do it and you supervise lol. Have you figured out what you're making per mile?

I picked up my load the drivers were less than helpful. There was even an incident. They had just load me but one of my drive tires had a blow out. Right where the tread and the sidewall meet. Sigh. The load shifted. Some of the lumber came out of their steel strap bundles and fell to the floor. The supervisor came over and yelled at me. I fought the urge to yell at him back because I learned from my experience as an EMT that anything you say during an incident can be used against you. He made a big deal out of nothing. The employees gather up the lumber that fell, removed the loosened bundle, and readjusted the lumber bundle that shifted. They brought that same lumber back some time later fixed and placed it back on the truck. The employees told me that the supervisor always yell at everyone. I reported the incident to accidents/claims even though nobody didn't ask for me info. During that time my tire was replaced. I had to use three tarps one lumber and two steel. I did it by myself. Later a lady security guard from the guard shack came over and gave me 3 bottles of water. She told me that the drivers were talking about me over the CB, and she felt bad. I thanked her for the water because I surely needed it. I didn't realize tarps can get hot like that in the sun and the weather was nice that day. I was soaking wet with sweat by the time I was finished. All those trucks were zooming by in a hurry. I guess they weren't that in a hurry if they had time to talk about me like that. Anyway, I drove some miles to a gas station to freshen up and change my clothes. I guess this load will be delivered tuesday. I'm glad for the long weekend at home.
I got my first "real" check. I figured that I'm making about .88 cents per mile

Sounds like you Cowgirled up and that's good! 88 cents per mile is pretty good for a company driver and if you're making that much I'll be there soon. Lol
