Thank you for your detailed journey with McElroy trucking. I will be attending driving school very soon and will probably try to get hired on by them. Love the weekends at home and they sound like very good company to work for. Starting a new career in trucking after 27 years in the trades.
Start at McElroy on Monday!

I'm sure some and possibly all of the questions I'm about to ask have been covered somewhere in this massive forum previously, however, since I don't have the time to search for the next year, I'm gonna ask em again. I looked into McElroy when I was in driving school but decided to go with a small company close to home running coast to coast for my first gig. After 18 months on the road, I find myself looking at MTL again. I'm curious about a few things. Do experienced drivers go thru the same orientation as recent grads? Are all miles loaded and empty paid at the same rate? What is the policy on visible tattoos? Is per diem optional or required? Do drivers wear MTL uniforms or ur own clothes? I'm sure I'll have more to come but I'm too tired to think of anything else right now. Thanks in advance guys and gals.

Tattoos? Probably would depend on what it is, but I'm guessing. A guy I went thru training with had one down an arm that went along the back of his hand. Clearly visible. It was tribal flames, I think. As far as I know, no one at MTL ever mentioned it. -
Generally if you're an experienced flatbedder its 3 day orientation, if you're an experienced driver without flatbed exp its 3 days and out with a trainer for a week.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. My only visible tat is inside my forearm and it says "Army Medic", not too bad for business I hope. I have no flatbed experience so I was figuring on a little longer orientation anyway. What are the rider and pet policies at MTL? Thanks again.
