Need Some Suggestions

I have a misdemeanor marijuana possession on my criminal record and nothing else. There are companies out there that wont touch me with a 10ft. pole and turn away from me like I have the plauge.
Im a good and hard worker just looking for someone to give me a chance to prove myself but companies out there are rutheless and dont believe giving anyone a chance like you and me and its BS. It doesnt mean were unsafe to work with or that we would use their equipment for transporting more than the required load. Some of those companies out there should have a heart and give a guy a chance after we have already paid our debt to society.
If you find a decent company let me know, maybe they will hire me too.

I don't know where you're from. But #1 & #4 are considered violent crime related where I'm from..

Agreeably, they do not seem like violent crimes. But, #4 was a violation of a court order, attempting to prevent violence/bodily harm/harassment to another.

So #4 is actually #5, set in place to prevent a repeat of #4 which he may or may not have been charged with.

#1 could very well be "involvement in a bar brawl" I don't know the details..hard to say.

And, based on what I am seeing. I would be hard pressed to hire him. He left some minor details out of this. And you know what companies do with new hires that leave out "minor" details.

Companies will get a look at the public records. And they will know everything on it, whether he was charged or not.

 

Try Glaser out of Liberty mo (about a humdred miles from you).They have #### equiment and are as****** to work for but they will hire any body. They mainly haul rock.Becareful since you're a rook but at and don't let them force you on your logs. Get your experience and get out!! Good luck.

 

is that no company that runs regular Canadian freight will hire you, as you cannot cross the border into Canada if you have a felony conviction. The best thing you can do is start calling companies and be honest with the recruiters. I know a slew of drivers with felony conviction. You can get hired on with a decent company.

 

JB Hunt use to hire people right out of prison in Arkansas (it was a state program). Have you talked to them?

First off don't settle for websites and online applications. Many/most drivers that you are in competition with will be picked over you. You will have to work harder for less opportunity. I'm sure you realize this, so no offense intended.

But what I think this means is, you need phone conversations at the least. You need to become an expert on selling yourself. Write it down. Practice in front of the mirror. Going into companies that are nearby would be even better than the phone. What you have to do is convince someone, in a position to do so, to give you a chance. Almost nothing is written in stone. What this means is if you sell hard enough, someone will give you a chance.

You didn't include anything about your MVR or job history. If you have strikes on those also, it may be a battle not worth fighting. The drug thing is a real taboo in trucking. Your multiple charges show a history of drug involvement and that is what is killing you. Why your friend's history of violent/theft crimes didn't do the same, I can't say. Many have had problems with one felony theft.

You need to move fast or your training will have no value when a few months pass. Then you will find any company that would hire you will want at least a refresher course.

Expect to take some lumps for your bad choices. Accept responsibility and don’t give up. Small companies, small fleet owners and oilfield work may offer more chances than other options. Nothing will trump knocking on doors and face-to-face interviews.
