Have a Code SPN 609-19. Communication error on J1939 link. I had a code before putting a new ACM on the truck. Troubleshooting Tree worked out to be a bad ACM. Once I replaced Module I got this code. All power connections and harness connections good. Anyone deal with ACM Calibration? The ECM had been updated 3 times and updated as a blank once. Navistar TC hasn't helped me much, and using a Case File takes for ever with short answers.
ACM Calibration

Check the main power to the ECU, requires good clean power supply....

I am guessing you have a Durastar, or Workstar chassis with the ACM under the cab below the drivers door. Chances are there is nothing wrong with the ACM. I have seen several times the problem is in the harness that they zig-zag all around the frame and spring in that area, then tie down too tightly with a hundred zip ties, then crush it between the frame and inner fender. Cut all those zip ties and open up the loom and check ever inch of each wire in the harness. There is a good chance you will find a spot where the wiring has rubbed through. I think they are only 20 gauge wires there now, they are just too small and weak to handle the rough environment of the trucking world. You will also get this code if the ACM is not powering up due to bad power circuits. There should be a 40 amp fuse in battery box for the unswitched power supply. Make sure that is all good too. The last one I had, active code for ACM not communication on 1939. ACM missing in 1939 sniffer. Found no power at ignition pin, found ignition wire rubbed all the way through at a kink in the harness and the loom itself had sawed through it along with 12 other wires. Fun times! As for calibration, you will need to calibrate a new ACM. You will use NETS to reprogram a new or blank module. You will get another screen to select which module you are replacing. The ACM will be on the list, you just check the box and away you go.
wrnchnrob067, Wannabe tech and QUALITYTRUCK Thank this. -
I disregarded what Navistar and their troubleshooting trees told me to do as they were no help, so I did what all the old timers taught me to do in any electrical problem. Follow the river. Traced the J1939 multiplex cable all the way up the main engine harness by the fuel pump. This is where the ACM datalink is spliced in to all the other datalinks. ECM,TCM ect. Cut out the old ACM datalink and soldered a new one in. Problem solved, and didn't have to Calibrate it. Identification number was listed on serviceMaxx and on the sniffer. I guess ill have to start using the old tricks of the trade more often than these blunt "diagnostic forms".

Good for you. Never take what they say as gospel. They have led me astray more times than I care to remember... Glad you go it!!!

I think this what my truck is doing, were does all these wires meet?
