I had a question to any Mcelroy drivers or any experienced drivers out there that can help explain to me what I did wrong. I was written up today, my fleet manager said "it's no big deal" but it most certainly is to me. Monday I had a load that had a delivery date between 0700-1500. Well I was on my way down and stopped to eat dinner with my wife. And I was going to leave but thought well I don't need to hurry up, my next load is delivering only 3 hours away I'll have plenty of time. I was not out of route by going home by the way. I ended up being in the sleeper for 20 hours. My fleet manager said the main office in Cuba called him wanting to know why I was in the sleeper for 20 hours so I guess he just decided to write me up. Anyway, I got to my consignee unloaded on time, got my next load and delivered on time. Went to the terminal and he wrote me up for my 20 hours in the sleeper. This makes no #### sense to me. I've stayed in the sleeper for 18 hours before at a Lowe's DC waiting on my load and they didnt say anything then. What's the big deal if I got my load there on time. I called my trainer and he said I shouldnt have signed the write up paper, but I dang I've only been there 4 weeks solo. My trainer also called the safety dept. and they said they had no record of a write up and that I should not have signed this write up either. Can anyone explain to me why I have been written up? Had I went ahead and went down there I just would have spent 15-20 hours in the sleeper somewhere else, which I've already experienced. Am I missing something here? I essentially feel like I've been punished for getting my load to it's destination on time.

No orientation date, I still need to do a new application, just trying to get some questions answered before I fill one out.

Thanks for all of the info guys. Especially RevKev. I've learned a lot about this company by reading this thread. I'm about to graduate from school and this is definitely one of the companies that I'm looking into. Have any of you had to strap down a load in the rain yet? Just wondering what it's like.

    RevKev Thanks this.

I also had another question. Do any of you arm yourselves when you're on the road? Do most company frown upon that? I'm thinking that there must be a policy of some kind about this at these companies but I'm totally new to this so I have no idea.

LOL! See this is what I really don't want to deal with. I absolutely hate being wet with clothes on. It's the worst!

Robes if it ain't the rain the humidity will soak you. I'm not a big sweater, but busting my ### in the humidity tarping caused me to change my whole outfit many times before I got back on the road.

    Robes Thanks this.
