I think maybe a job at the record store would probably be a better fit. They don't test for drugs and some of em even encourage it

So true. Also, training companies have trainer/student issues all the time. If it doesn't work between them, the student can ask to be assigned to another trainer. I believe most students are told that they have that option before it gets too late. Even so, it's tough for a new driver, knowing where the responsibility lies. You are always responsible for your equipment, sure, but a student driver is assigned a trainer, and there's an expectation of instruction and learning. The trainer may not be "the boss," but he's awful close when you're the student. One thing for sure, student or pro. If you're uncomfortable with a situation (can happen to any driver, any time) go slow, climb down and look as many times as necessary. It's no problem to find an alternative if you're still not confident about a manuever. Better than an at-fault collision. Last thought - it's better to openly admit your problem than to keep it to yourself. No shame in a tough spot like that. Just a small problem, keep on keepin' on.pattyj Thanks this.

Pretty good, 2Girls. I believe Swift pays trainees pretty well. 2 years ago they paid me $450/week during training. I hated my trainer, we weren't going to exchange christmas cards, but I just shut up and put up with it. I watched a lot, but drove more. He had me running the long hours/miles for his income, which was fine with me. Backing, paperwork, Qualcomm, bare minimums and self-taught. This guy recommended me as "non-hire." I wrote a note to Swift HR about some little details, he got suspended and I got a road test which I passed easily, got a truck and started off on my work to support my family. Some of these posts I feel like the OP didn't really keep his/her eye on the ball. Like you mentioned, so his hygiene was poor. Who cares? Get your own truck, drive it, make a living.
