Last week, I attended orientation for USX. Got dropped off Sunday afternoon at the Greyhound station. The bus I was supposed to take was too full, so I had to wait on the next one...which was delayed two hours. This put me in my hotel at approximately 2 AM. Then, I wasn't on the hotel's list of incoming people. Turned out USX had booked me under a different last name. The next day was fairly uneventful. They still had my last name wrong but was quickly fixed.Lunch was Domino's pizza...no drink...and all I had was a debit card and nowhere to go. So bring change for drinks.Days 2 and 3 were pretty much the same...a lot of waiting around.Day 4 I was hired. I was given all the paperwork, my pay card, and the name of my training coordinator to call.It took a while to get the training coordinator on the phone but when I finally spoke to her, she seemed very nice and gave me the name amd phone number of my trainer.Aaaaaaand of course his phone had been disconnected...I spoke to another training coordinator who advised me to just leave a voicemail, that he was probably just busy. I could not get it through to her that the number was DISCONNECTED...Finally I spoke to someone else that sent him a message with my number telling him to call me.Day 4 passes....no phone callDay 5...Nothing....Day 6...I stay back at the hotel, seeing as it was a holiday weekend and I can sit around watching tv at the hotel just as well as at the driver's lounge. I get a message late that afternoon from my trainer saying that his load coming my way was canceled.Soooo I tried calling my training coordinator and got a message saying that she was out of the office until Tuesday.I called the 1-800 number back and waited on the line only to talk to a woman that didn't seem like she was having a good day. I was told that she couldn't help me and I should have called sooner. I called when I found out.Not really sure what to do at this point. Im sitting at the hotel debating on buying myself a ticket back home or sticking it out until Tuesday morning even though I only have my hotel room until Monday morning...Decisions, decisions...

Stick it out, this is the fun part. If you can't endure a vacation in a hotel you won't last long in trucking.

That's only the start of all the BS leave now

Unless you run teams with USX, plan on a lot of miscommunication.
USX is a team company and the teams do great.
If you want to be a solo driver and make good money; start a backup plan now. -
What Chinatown said, except for the thing about better communication for team drivers. It actually got worse. The entire training experience there was a complete cluster ####. Your training cooridinator is a moron, and could not care less. His/her job is to get you a trainers number, approve the end of your training and pretend to make sure you're training is going smoothly. Do your time at USX, get enough experience that you don't need to train at another company, and get out.

my .02 would be to head back to the house and re-evaluate your plans on which company to go with. The last thing you want to do is try to "stick it out" and hope it gets better, next thing you know, you wake up one time in your sleeper and realize you wasted 2 months with a company who you probably didnt want to go with anyway. Trust me, don't rush a decision, step back and look at what's going on. If your gut is telling you this a bad idea, it probably is. That being said, starting off ain't no cake walk so keep that in mind with starter companies.
