I was a mech before I started driving and the mechanicals are about all I know LOL, but we always had cats. I'm learning all over again.
How long you been wrenching on trucks?
I appreciate that. that actually looks very similar to the serial number on my motor but I don't have it on me. I ran the engine serial number through cummins and they came back with a BC II, 300 hp. I was told it' was a 400, go figure. they he told me it was rebuilt to 400 specs... I don't know so I'm going to dyno it. The turbo seems to be a part number for a 400hp but that doesn't mean the pistons were changed and the 300 runs higher compression pistons then the 400 does.

I have been working on trucks for 6 years now. Before that, I drove for a few years during and right after high school...

Do you get an employee discount??

if you get time could you find out from your parts guy if there is a trigger that will screw into the mechanical tach drive on my cummins PT fuel pump nd convert the mechanical into en electronic pulse. I believe Issopro makes them but I don't know what calibration would be needed. Get me a part number if he can figure anything out. If not get me a part number and selling price for a mechanical tach and cable. Just if you have some spare time -
Hey pete , Ive got an 04 C-15 CAT accert set at 435 hp its got a FRO-16210c trans ,Whats the highest that I can go on hp.
-
500hp is the most you can do w/o changing injectors and such
The cost of gaining 65 hp in my opinion is not worth it, your better off leaving it like it is.
Why do you want to up your Hp, fuel milage or bragging rights? -
Pete tech looking at a 2004 peterbilt last six of the vin.813216. And the engine serial # mbn20155. If you have time could you look up some information please?
-
Well , i'd like to think that by increasing hp , it would help my fuel mileage, i'm not too concern about bragging rights to be honest with you, these days I'm more concerne about MPG'SSSSSS
-
OK PeteTech heres the run down on mine. She is an 05 387 last six are 887710 and it has a CAT C15 and sits at 475. I was told I could turn it up to 5 something but I am after MPG's. This truck was Pete's show truck for a year and has low mileage and a lot of options including the Ultrashift and leather interior. (The blue one in the old calenders and wall poster) Anyway, let me know what you think and your opinion of good settings for economy.

I bet we are olny going to be able to sell the cable and mech. tach. I think to sind what your looking for, for the electronic tach you would have to go after market, like you mentioned Issopro, but I'll still see
-
ya I figured but I though they may know something. SOmeone probably would have 15 years ago

I've been told they work but it's trial and error when it comes to finding one that is pulsed right and I don't have money or patience for trial and error.
