You are absolutely right about that. Driver training has disappeared since the floodgates were opened to Temporary Foreign Workers.

no- you are absolutely right. the funding for training programs is a scam to placate those WHO DO NOT NEED THEM- they assume, because they've been told, there is money for training but they don't know the folks needing and asking for those training programs dont get that assistance. I really don't want to bring up politics here, because I have a certain bent, and respectfully, others have their own- but when the government of the day spends a few million tax dollars to boast of a training program that doesnt exist during hockey playoffs- someone is trying to fool a lot of people with our own money. further, counting unemployment rates etc. is a shell game too because they are only counting thiose who are collecting employment insurance, not those whos ei because exhausted and are no longer collecting- but the longer you are out of work, the harder it is finding such, just like it is easier to find a job while you are working. but at the end of it, they say, hmmmm, we have such low unemployment, looks like we need to bring in a few more foriegners to help out our businesses. again, there is a humanitarian acceptance- I cant blame these folks coming over from the hell theyve been through- I dont blame them. but I do blame these "business leaders" who choose to take advantage of their plight and use them that we each see less for the fruit of our labor and these "business leaders" manage to see their own profits grow. businesses are less inclined to train folks because they feel the person will take the training elsewhere- right; it's a free country- but everyone benefits if we are all better trained, better skilled- so it is in the governments interest on behalf of all to help that- but training is not without a cost- so they say they are balancing the books, keeping taxes down and telling everyone there is money for training but these folks are lazy so we have to import. sorry, I wish I had something really useful to say that will help you- but I don't. If anything, keep trying because nothing will ever happen without trying- and if anything, I found that women are way more stubborn than men, where we'd give up, women don't - so you got that advantage going for you. all the best.

Foreign workers getting funding for truck training , as far as I'm aware the prospective employee must pay for his or her training .

Migrant workers are not immigrants, neither is TFW. Your just full of assumptions making your opinions here on a forum. Migrant workers have been working on farms for decades. These are the jobs Canadian citizens do not want or work. They are seasonal in remote farming communities with very little population to draw upon for workers. Migrant workers are housed, transported and flown by the farmers themselves. They make minimum wage at the time they are brought in and then when they return to their home country have a suitable wage that a few months work here in Canada would take them a few years to earn in their home country. It's a win win situation for farmers, our economy and the migrant workers themselves.

But you would know nothing about that because you think migrant workers are immigrants. You're a fool.

That's absolute crap! I know people who came here from Australia to work on grain farms and went back home because the wages in canada are so low. You think people from other countries make better wages here then think again. Canada has one of the lowest wage rates in the first world. I've been doing seasonal farm work for over 4 years in canada before moving to the oil patch and I have not met any TFW's or migrant workers at all. No East Indians, no North Africans and no Eastern Europeans. Only a few Germans on Hutterite colonies. You're full of your own ####!
