I totally agree. I would not choose acert if I had the choice. I got a great deal on this truck and the acert was already in there. That being said, the engine only had 360,000 on it and its not that bad of a motor. At least I got one before cat started with the dpf. Also, I pull an end dump with no tarp. Everyone has told me that if I put a tarp on my end dump I will get between 1/2 and 1 more mile per gallon. At 1/2 mpg more, that is an extra 150 to 175$ in my pocket per week. The good old c12 would probably give me that mileage without the tarp.

Agree and never take the dpf cats. I need to work on my mbn from a 5 mpg to 7 mpg truck. Me and my dad were worried when we bought the t600 because in 03, they slowly started putting the c-15 bxs acert. Worked out that it has the mbn.

I have the C-13 in my '07 T-600. I did the PDI Stage One, deleted the actuators, put a flow through muffler and a Diesel Freak on it and she runs like never before. Seeing about 6.5, but it's still too early to tell what my gains will be, since I'm still dialing her in.

KCB is just the beginning if the model# of some of the cat c13 accerts. Honestly though, I don't know how he got 500 horse. The max they would rate these engines was up to 430 on some and up to 470 on the later ones. I suppose he may have some aftermarket goodies that bumped him up there. 972k is pretty impressive for a c13 before an inframe also. I believe it though. People generalize these motors and say that they won't last like the older ones. That may be true in general, but if you do more frequent oil changes and take care of your c13, I've heard from plenty of people that these engines can be good to you.
