Okay. Let me be the one to bust your bubble. When you get out of schooling you are worth anything. You are an unknown. You have a license but no experience. Can you drive a truck, maybe. But can you operate a commercial vehicle, I doubt it. What you are is someone who is likely going to tear up equipment. You are someone who is going to cost a lot of insurance. You are someone who is only going to stick around for a year so any experience you gain will benefit some other company. You are also one of hundreds of applicants that come through the revolving door of newbie wannabe truckers.
Now, if you want to be a trucker let me give you some advice. Instead of asking such a lame question try a different approach. Post why you would be a good candidate to work for a company. Ask someone to help you by giving you a recommendation to the company they work for. They might get a bonus for recruiting you. Do not expect to start at the top. Show a willingness to earn a piece of the American Dream. In fact, view the video below until you understand it.

Mcelroy Trucklines .43cents a mile

The company with the best assessorial pays, pays the most.
Cents per mile doesn't mean much when looking at the whole pay package.
If a company pays .47 cpm, that looks good. but it's not good at all if you sit at a grocery warehouse for 6 or 8 hours burning up your 14 hr. window without detention pay or detention pay starts after 3 or 4 hours.
There's excellent jobs with van, reefer, flatbed, tanker but you have to look for them.
The only negative I ever had with flatbed was dealing with union steel mills; they can kill a paycheck with their delays. Those places are like getting off a spaceship on a planet with very low gravity & everything is in slow motion. Other than that, flatbed will keep you moving with short load/unload times.
There's some good reefer outfits if you go with one that lets solo drivers run coast-to-coast & find one that doesn't let you sit at meat packing plants for days.
I'm a big tanker fan because of keeping the wheels turning and great assessorial pays; that's where I made the most money. -
No ####e!! I see on this board it's always a ######## that hijacks a thread. I asked a simple question that required a simple answer that's it. Thanks to the rest of the guys, who answered & kept it moving.
