LOL.. now the series on FX, loosely based on the movie.

I elected to forego work in the name of safety today. Saved $50 by meeting my glass guy out at the ATL Petro to get a brandy new windshield to catch rocks with. Sort of a forced savings, as meeting him was the only way to get one done right now instead of next week some time. The last one made it about a week before I got a chip down near the cowl. For the last few months the crack was creeping straight up and now obvious enough for an over-zealous inspector to notice.

Then I tore into my apu in the driveway and found that I'm still awesome with diagnosing electrical problems. Symptoms suggested a dirty or loose connection for main power inside the crusty apu engine case. Barely visible was a ground stud with a main cable and about six more with crimp connections, all covered with barnacles. So, off with the bottom case half and... Jackpot! The main ground cable was holding on by about 2 remaining strands of wire and came apart with just a light pull. It might have lasted another 7 years if the installer hadn't cut halfway thru it when stripping the insulation to put the lug on the end.

Got that all cleaned up and was about to start on the 12V+ side and a thunderstorm ended my work shift early. I'll get back under it in the morning when it's dried out and finish the job. One of these days I'm gonna call Thermoking and find out how much a lower case half costs, in order to justify not buying a new one, ever. Then cuss every time I have to take it apart to fix something LOL.

Funny thing about that is, I don't mind all that so much when I'm lounging in the bunk on a hot summer day with 50º air blasting out the vents with the fuel sipping apu putt-putting away underfoot. Today sure beat the crap out of installing a bunk heater fuel pump a few months ago, in -5º Oak Grove, MO at night. At least holding the flashlight was easy. Just spit on it and stick it to the frame LOL

Speaking for myself I've noticed: I'm slowly turning into one of those "old guys" I used to laugh at..'It's to hot..it's to cold'..Logging crew for me Monday running the skitter..they cut the logs and I run to where they cut when done-choke chain the logs-and drag em to loanding zone using the skitter where (sometimes) I then use the truck picker to load on truck..Hope it ain't hot but if it is-the trick is-don't let the youngsters see ya suffer.. :biggrin_2559:

Well..time to do "home stuff". :biggrin_255: Hell am I doin here anyway? I know...right??

Is this thread similar to the "Where Are You"? I post there constantly but I don't disclose the exact location of where I am... :biggrin_25512: I may write that I am at a rest area or truck stop in this or that state... I have met a few members of this forum... Thanks to that thread... Only a few though... And that's ok... I don't need to become very popular anyway.... :biggrin_2559:

Ohh yeah... And tonight I am not parked anywhere... The truck is at the Freightliner shop and I am at a hotel in Ontario, CA...

At the TA in Terrell, TX. It amazes me how ####### lazy drivers are. Tons of regular parking spaces and guys are double parking near the front. Sad.
