I even looked there today! I crawled around in the front of the trailer. Looked by the pallet. Checked other trailers. And it was slid in the strap on the side of the coil. Who looks there? I was so annoyed especially after seeing 6 straps.
How do you guys secure 2 coils? Obviously it's awkward. But for 46,000lbs 6 straps doesn't cut it.

Just cover it up and no one will notice you didn't use straps! Genius!

And nice to finally meet you, too will! Sorry I was a mess. Obviously my buddies thought it would be hilarious to watch me pump def all over myself. Haha.

I once had a driver who lost a coil. I remember talking to him about checking his load securement and he assured me he was doing it. We brought him to the terminal with another load and those straps were cut about 1/4 through. Pretty much he'd just give them pull and if they felt tight enough he'd just go with it. We talked about some other things and he went on to tell me that he could only use snap binders because with a ratchet binder he would tighten so much he'd either break the chain or the trailer....

He ended up quitting because I was too mean to him for losing that coil, he'd only lost 1 of 3 and it landed in the median so it wasn't like anyone was going to get hurt.

Part of the reason I'm glad I'm not flatbed anymore is because I get stabby when I see terrible load securement. Wire coils with all the straps pulling to the front make me want to shake people.
That guy is dang lucky it landed in the median. And wow 1 out of 3. He's awesome!

I assume that you are talking about a rexam load? Not much more you can do for a skidded coil. I do send one around the front and rear of them to take care of forward and rearward movement.

Oh. And btw, they got me to home last night. Asked me to take a load from another driver that delivers close by Sunday night. I did them a solid and agreed. Launch back out then.

I've had two relay coils this week. One from Logan and one from Silgan. Both under secured.
And whoever tightened them down was the hulk. I could NOT get some of them undone haha

Im afraid for the blitz coming up. Lots of tickets are going to be written.

I strive for over 100% as much as reasonably possible, but you only need to cover 50% overall. 80% forward, 50% to each side and rear and 20% up, so you are legal. If you picked up 80463, I'm sorry for tightening the straps down so much. I'm 230lbs, 6'8", strong and can get lots of leverage.
