But what I think you are not taking into consideration is the fact that he probably runs half of the miles you do.

Why do you use a pic of an oversized load then?

Good info to know! Just took a 12'6" through there on Tuesday (I-10 to I-8 going to Imperial, Ca) and there were a lot of OS getting hassled by state patrol, one even got pulled over behind and inspected and a warning given for following to close (less than 2000 feet)

I will pull wide if it pays well. That's rare.

How did you get through Yuma? FYI, Between Texas Canyon and Tucson there will be a 9' restriction starting next week.

EDIT** Just realized this starts tomorrow.

My problem with is most of my loads are 16 to 18 wide, so EVERY two lane road is DPS escorts. 12' 6" is pretty easy to get done but you'll still double your miles and need a bunch of city permits.

Just seen your edit about it starting tomorrow. Straight across I-8. When I bought my permit that morning after leaving NM the lady at scale house said they were going to be routing me all over the place because of road construction, then she looked at her map again and where I was going and said nevermind that is for eastbound and soon would be for westbound also but didn't say what the limit was going to be yet. Supposed to be a couple more going across next month, so that will be interesting if the road construction is going to be all summer.

So he has a $400,000 setup and made $500,000 a year? So after the first year, his equipment is paid for and he still has $100,000 left over that 1st year. Then every year after that is pure profit ... That's winning

That's a gross oversimplification. For example, one can by a used tractor and used flatbed for $30000 and go gross $250000. That's a more efficient yield on capital. But is still misleading and oversimplified, because that cheap initial cost on a rig ignores the higher costs required for new parts needed.

Although, this is not the proper thread for this subject; I would love to see a new thread concerning a breakdown of costs vs. net revenue yielded in various types of heavy haul work.
