As many problems and let downs you have had with Celadon I would consider looking elsewhere. If this is any indication of how it is going to be later you don't need t go there. Consideration works both ways .
I think you have done everything that could be expected of you in applying. Sounds like they don't want you, nor do they want to go through what needs to be done to hire you.

Day 30: I'm sorry that the updates have gotten so infrequent but there really isn't any new information to share until I pass the CDL road test. I am hoping to test out next week. Several of the people in my class have already tested out and moved on. A few have tested and are waiting to retest. I can share that the CDL testing is done at the Schneider facility a mile or so away. I consists of the inspections, the backing, and driving tests.
With any luck I will have a bunch on new information about the Celadon process after next week.

    Green_20,
It turns out that the four-weeks is a guideline that almost no one at the currently at the school has been making. There are a couple of reason contributing to that. The above average amount of snowfall over the winter had the training ranges closed down for many days which put the Jan-March classes behind schedule and getting them trained and out took priority over the newer classes. They are just about caught up, though. We are all hoping that the new school in AL will reduce the incoming class sizes and get everyone more training time. It really depends on how quickly you pick up the skills. There are people in the classes behind mine that have tested out because they learned the maneuvers more quickly.

The higher-skill areas are ranges 4 and 5. That is where they send you to practice once they feel you know what you are doing. I am currently on range 4. They did a practice road test last week and I passed that. Once they think I have the backing down they will send me over to test. Hopefully that will be soon.

I could only hope to be out with a trainer already. The wait is a bit longer for us girls. I am happy to report that the hotel I am staying at is no longer packed with guys waiting for trainers, though. Maybe I will luck out and I won't have a very long wait at all. :)

Sorry to worry you. I am still glad I chose Celadon, the school is still great. I am a little disappointed that I am not getting the backing down quicker but that is on me not them. Part of the reason for the posting drop off is that between Memorial Day and graduation season, I have barely had time on the weekends to even open my laptop. I can post from my phone but since it is a Galaxy Siii mini, the screen isn't very compatible with the forum. The other part is that it is so hot out on the ranges that I have been worn out and sunburned when I get back to the hotel so I mostly just veg out. I will try to be more considerate. ;)

No problem Dum...you don't really owe us a post. I was just wondering what happened to you. I am glad you are fine and still would recommend Caledon. Can't wait to hear that you are out on the road with a trainer and taking that next step. Thanks for posting

Gordon, thanks for getting it and I concur about moving on. It isn't the end of the world and there are plenty of other companies out there. Besides, they don't allow pets and not being able to take my little road warrior and sidekick with me is a dealbreaker.

I am just puzzled that with the high demand for drivers industry-wide I couldn't get an answer to a simple query. I can only surmise that Celadon would prefer CDL students to attend their own school, who are then rather like indentured servants, required to work a certain amount of time before they can seek other opportunities.

Miss Jane , you are absolutely right about Celadon preferring to hire their own students. And "indentured servant" is also a very fair description. I came to Celadon last September when they bought the company I was working for. And last Friday I gave them my two weeks notice. I've had enough. Good luck to you!

I am so glad I have been reading this, and other, post(s) here. Also talking to a few seasoned guys, from the past, and not jumping into anything quickly. Everything is starting to fall into place with what I assume will be a different, and better company, to work with/for hopefully. I am still amazed that I was sent an student confirmation letter, and bus pass offer from Cel without ever telling them I was choosing them. Kinda makes a person wonder about them.

after 30 straight....in a row no break.....days of 10 hour days for this loser employer I finally get a half day off. And since I am straight pay, I wasnt really rewarded for all my hard work other than the measly money I have to fight for to actually be paid.

Just prior to me writing this I typed out my resignation letter that will be hand delivered to my soon to be ex-bosses face in the morning, cant wait to see his face when he realizes the only employee he has that is capable of doing everything I do is leaving. At this point he could double my pay and I would still tell him to f@%k off.

I am getting on the phone with Roehl and Celadon and a couple others in a few minutes.

I am gald to see that all went well on this post, sorry to necro it, just wanted to check in.
