Well driver. Call me crazy, but I have a good friend who got out of school 2months ago. Check with 28 different companies most of which were the big ones. And ultimately he chose Prime Inc. out of Springfield,Mo. Of course that's just one drivers situation. Im sure you will many more suggestions in the near furure. The best of luck to you. Remember one important thing. which ever company you choose, stay with them for at least one year. That will make it a lot easier when looking for a different company to drive for.:yes2557:

Paying the most isn't always the best way to look. You could make .52 per mile but only run 1,500 miles per week. That will make you broke. You need to look overall, equipment, hometime, treatment, etc. Like fuffster said, find a company that you can tolerate for a year.

If you find a company that you like that pays a good rate per mile, but you are concerned about getting a great rate per mile but no miles. Usually the bigger outfits will own a truck sales company that they use to sell their old equipment. These can be easily found by a simple google search "swift used trucks for sale" or "prime used.....ect". Get the number and place a call posing as a someone in the market for a used truck. Ask them what company trucks they have avail, what year they are, and most importantly how many miles they have on them. Should give you some idea how many miles those trucks ran per year.

Depending on your driving record ( I hope it is clean) try FedEX Freight. They have a Excellent Driver Apprenticeship program and I know That Worcester is hiring, Hartford might be as well. also, you will need to add doubles and triple to it as well.

Conway Truckload: .26 for 7500 miles of training, .30 on first solo load, .36 by the end of first year.
Plus, .01 for every safe mile, paid quarterly. If you go to a Conway school, they pay a large portion of your tuition off after your first solo load. No big long commitments and schools or good.

I analyzed them all when I started, this one was best over the first year. still there 3 years later...why mess with a good thing.

I will add that it is important to look into accesorial pay. What you are paid when you aren't driving is just as important as what you are paid when you are.

That's the key! I know drivers where I used to work that only made .36 cpm, but made $72K per year.We got paid for everything we did; even for fueling, pre/post trip, layovers, restarts, trailer swap, hourly pay at a tank wash starting the minute you arrived at the tank wash, etc. I didn't make $72K because I took 4 or 5 weeks off every year to goof off overseas, but I still stayed in the $60K's.
