I should shouldn't say I have no tach. It sits on 100 at idle then moves to maybe 300 when revving. I would think if one of the sensors was bad it would throw a check engine light.
Engine swap???

also noticed my water temp isnt reading. The gauge is pegged on the 250 side as soon as the key is turned. I also have codes now 46, 32, 13, 38, 26, 25. The engine I put in was from a 2001 Freightliner and it was put in my 2004 Peterbilt 379. Does the pete have a computer that the engine ecm isnt communicating with?

The 6nz did have a partial rebuild done. It got new rings, O-rings on the liners, all new bearings, new valves and guides in the head, reman injectors, and new seals and gaskets all around. They did run test it so I don't think the harness is bad. Ill have to check fuses on batteries to ecm. Would the pins on the ecm be different for some reason?

could be...

I saw another post where someone did the same swap and had the no tach problem, but no one answered. I pm'ed Mr. Haney on another site. I'm sure he will be able to point me in the right direction

I don't see any problems with this thread. It is no different than someone wanting information on how to set up a glider.
There was a thread about this at one time, not sure if it was deleted with all of the other threads or not, but I remember something about having to switch a couple of wires around on the plug for the ecm to make it work properly. I'll see if I can find it. -
Here's a post that I found, hope this helps some.

I talked with Kurt today. The tach issue just requires it to programmed to my truck since the ecm came from a freightliner. The codes are most likely not active and just stored. It is having issues with low power and a bad stumble when driving. I found that to be a fuel pressure issue. Going to change the check valve/pressure regulator Monday. If that doesn't do it Ill change the transfer pump

Yeaa send it to kurt , turn that bad boy up!!
