Driving a car and driving a semi are really two different things. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. (This is a Sunday so I get to quote the Bible.)

You are on your way to becoming a professional driver. You are no longer a child. You have to drive differently. The number one cause of any accident with a semi is speed. Slow down and think about what you are doing. Add a margin of safety to every thing you do. Expect those folks who are driving those little cars to do something stupid. They will. When you turn right, you have to pull out farther then seems normal. Same thing going left. That 53' trailer is bigger then you think it is. Slow down and if always be sure of what you are doing. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

As for your past, accidents in cars do not effect you nearly as much as an accident in a truck will. I do not know what country you are from but in America we grew up driving different things. Lawn mowers and bicycles, those things give you experiences that people from different cultures sometimes miss out on. So you are bound to hit more things will learning to drive then we did. It is a learning process. If you feel you are ready to step up to semi truck driving then do so but do it with your eyes wide open. It is not an easy thing to do. Done right, it is a thing of beauty. Done wrong, someone will die.

Be a man (or in Patty's case be a woman) and operate your rig like you have the lives of not only yourself but the 4 vehicles on all sides of you in your hand. Because you do.

Welcome, not only to Trucking but to the Country I love. (When you vote, look for the elephant)

Welcome to The Truckers' Report sir, and Inshallah.

Please be aware that truckers are responsible, and can be held liable for a LOT. Truckers here in the USA are often guilty until proven innocent. There are personal injury lawyers everywhere that wait to pounce on trucking companies.

Best of luck to you if you are serious about doing this job.

Cars are cars. Our driving history before we became professional drivers is not a great indicator of how we will behave as a professional driver. Just sayin. Loved me my fast cars and spun a few into some bad situations using poor teenage judgment myself but never had an accident once I took driving seriously and became a professional driver. Not slamming. Just saying.

That one mistake is just one second ahead of all of us every single day. We are none of us perfect and we chose this profession. We live with the chances as do those we share the road with. Doesn't mean we give up the ghost (southern expression; means give up and roll over dead) on trying to achieve. Faith we can do it well is what keeps everything moving.

VERY wise advice to ANYONE entering this industry. There is a VERY good reason for always having $200 cash in your secret hiding spot on you at all times as a truck driver. You never know when you will have to find your way back home without a ride. ALWAYS carry enough cash to get home on.

OK Wooly; I'm gonna try and do this without getting too bashed or banned. First, props for Law School. Given that you will have to get used to your opposing Counsel picking at snippets and the spirit of Academic debate . . . We are quoting Christianity to a traditionally non-Christian culture; talking about speaking like a child, thinking like a child and putting down childish things; (might be interpreted as calling them childish). Then we are talking about us driving lawn mowers and bikes (and "them" driving what? Mules, Burros, Oxen, Elephants?) so we have more practice not hitting things. Really? Travel Dude. We are a much wider open nation as far as space on roadway than most all so-called third world nations are. Most of the drivers in those countries could out drive all of us in crowded scenarios, with their eyes blindfolded and only peeking occasionally. Give a break. Lastly the elephant reference . . . I call foul. Telling an aspiring Indian immigrant to vote for the elephant? Bad form Sir. Subtle (as a brick though a window) recruiting? And shamelessly playing on stereotype. Tsk, tsk, tsk. So my intelligent, learned and thoughtful colleague; Any chance anything may have been misinterpreted by someone new to our language, culture and traditions? Just asking because I think you to be a really good person that will make a fine Attorney one day. Just need to maybe consider the bigger picture. As a matter of Practice of Law.

Also excellent counsel and a very nice welcome.

To Mr. Nazz: You can be ANYTHING you want here. Hard work and a drive to assimilate without losing your heritage and culture are key. A thick skin is necessary as so many of us forget that unless we are 100% pure Native American; we are ALL immigrants. Just came here at different times and under different circumstances. Thus, after so many generations - we judge. Wrongly so, but it is a fact of life. Apply yourself, take fools for what they are (and you will encounter many, unfortunately) and let them roll off you like water on a duck's back . . . I think you will do well.

My apologies to the Staff and Mods. You know why. I do too. I shall keep it in check. Thank you in advance.

    As-salamu alaykum to ALL.

PS. It just means Peace Be Upon You. Sheeeze. Just Like AMEN means Let It Be Done. Gesundheit means To Your Health. Salude means very similar. C'mon. We can accept all the changes in technology that make this world a much tinier place than it was ten years ago and bring a global culture together online but we still split hairs and have the hairs on the backs of our necks go up because we hear a certain phrase? Really? Especiallay given we mostly don't even understand the full and true meaning of the phrases that tend to raise those hairs. Just food for thought.

Thankfully, not here on TTR. A sanctuary for all drivers and all wannabe drivers. Ahhh. The A/C just kicked on. I feel much better now. South Florida is hot and humid. Y'all know that? LOL.

Night all and may God keep your hands and hearts steady in your journeys. HAH! That one is pure me. No ethnicity at all. Applies to everyone.

    Night all.

    Amerinds were immigrants, too... :p

Otherwise: EXCEPTIONALLY well said. And I daresay our new member, if he does get his license and starts driving, will outwork even the hardest-working driver here.

Good form, Animal! Good form, sir!
