I currently have 2 speeding violations and 2 cell phone tickets within the last 3 years. A couple of them will be dropping off in a few months. I have no accidents or dui's at all. I have had my class c for 28 years. Thanks for the advice in advance.

What's a couple will be falling off.
How fast over were you going.
And cell phone tickets, I guess you were not using handsfree or something ?

Where do you live...general area? Be more specific about the speeding...and are you looking to get a Class A?

I didn't think that minor 4-wheeler offenses would even be looked at.

I have a clean record, but that is good to know.

I wouldn't think companies would consider cell phone tickets to be minor since they now get fined for them as well as the driver.

No, I agree with you. And it would make sense that a guy's 4 wheeler record would be examined, I just hadn't thought about it.

I used to get a lot of speeding tickets. I have not had any tickets or accidents for 14 years. Would I be correct to assume that I have a clean record? They don't look back that far do they?

Yes, you can say you have a clean record. Anal retentive places like Walmart wants your lifetime driving history, they did call me for an interview, but I decided to stay local at the time and I'm glad I did, I found a nice easy local gig a few weeks later but most places only go back 3-5 years and I believe that your MVR only goes back 3 so you're clean ;)

Do either of your speeding violations constitute reckless driving (ie. some states say 16 mph over the speed limit is reckless driving for example)? If this is the case, then most trucking companies can't touch you because their insurance company won't touch you. You would need to wait until those convictions/tickets drop off your record.

Regarding the two tickets for cell phone use, I'm not sure how the insurance companies or trucking companies would look at those. Most companies have a very strict policy regarding cell phones, meaning that if you are caught using a cell phone once then you are fired. There is no second chance.

Best bet for you is to call some recruiters and find out if you can be hired. You'll likely need to start with a job that isn't the best, but if you can stay clear of any issues for a year or two then you'll be able to play "work up".
