...Blindside backs. I did my first THREE today. Yeah, three in one day. And no, there was no other option. Believe me, I looked, scratched my head, figured, walked around, and looked some more; I would have just ended up getting myself in more trouble. It's true what everybody says, G.O.A.L. is the key. I also humbled myself and asked one of the experienced guys waiting to get loaded for advice on getting in the hole. He offered to do it for me, but that's no way to learn. Two of the backs were at job sites, one of which was off a public road. As luck would have it I was able to flag down a cop coming out of the Arby's across the street and he stopped traffic for me. Welcome to the real world of trucking, I guess.![]()

Yup I have done my fair share of Blindsides. I does become easier as time goes by. G.O.A.L . is your best friend and never worry about the other people. Lucky you in having a officer available. The best blindside is the one that you don't have to do.
My question is: What other options were available? I have seen noob's attempt blindsides when there was another way to get to the dock.
The worst for me was in WI. Had to blindside down a ramp, around a curve, in between two other trucks into a tight dock. -
May I ask what G.O.A.L. stands for? I'm sure it's probably something simple...but still have to ask.

At least you asked the question. Regardless of how simple it may have been in the end.
You're already weeks, if not months ahead of others. Give yourself a pat on the back. -
ok, if your talking about asking simple questions , then can you tell me what does ; o/c ; mean???and ; t/e ; thanks !1

Thanks man...thought that might be it. -
No other options. One was in a loading yard that was set up one way, I looked at maybe coming in the wrong way (just to see), but it wasn't possible. The other was at a hotel construction site, wasn't truck friendly in the least. Surrounded by fast food places with small parking lots, no room to turn around and approach it the other way. The third was off a winding two land road that I couldn't see very far down. I may have been able to go down, turn, and come back, but I didn't want to chance getting stuck some place I couldn't see.

Smitty - I'm guessing, so am probably wrong
I've not run into those before...
but O/C might be Owner/Contractor
T/E might be Trainer/Evisceration (ok, that's a joke, son, a JOKE) -
Hey man, nothing humbling about that. Most of us have done this, and when the circumstances dictate, will do it again!
