Rigmaster's run around 8k or so. Heard from several they have a problem eating alternators for some reason.
Just had a TK Tri-pac installed on mine and it seems pretty decent so far. I know my idle time went WAY down this month. I think the company spent north of 10k for these.
OOIDA offers a discount for Rigmasters, and having used one before, I like it better because it's a stand alone system.
I heard this will improve MPG?

$8100 installed and a full set of spare filters. I thought about super singles but I am not sold on them yet. The Goodyear rep said that all of the hype on the wide tires is just that. They said with their experiments they didn't provide what the other manufacturers are claiming and they have not decided if they are going to bring one to market. Bridgestone rep said they were still needing much more developement and the Michelin rep said they are more of a fad (he referred to the Trick My Truck Show) and the return on investment to switch wasn't worth it. He said if you want them order the truck with them but that's about it.

Do these companies finance them or is it a most time cash up front deal? I could fork $8K, but that would hit the funds hard. -
the good was from a lot of volvo drivers though, for some reason alot of them have them.
790 pounds estimated weight savings...thats almost 4/5 of a ton of LESS rolling mass. From what ive heard people gained about .2 to .3 MPG switching to them.
Bad...if you get a flat...your screwed
like i said, we are in a toss up...trying to see how high we can get the MPG and keep making a killer surcharge, or get us a APU unit and not have to sweat it out when we sitting still.
You pay cash or finance? -
They have financing for them. I paid cash but I had it set aside to do it. I also chose the RM over the TK for the stand alone issue.... as well as it was 1500 cheaper and it has a 6000W generator vs. TK's 1800W inverter. I have a full size microwave with a broiler, a flat screen and soon a TrakView Sat reciever.... gotta be a good and comfortable home away from home. I was looking into the VuCube but it only works while parked, I am running team so when I am off..... or the race is on... my little brother can tend the wheel and I can watch!

ill have to look into them then, sounds like a good deal! -
hey guys, someone on here mentioned apu's check out pony pack/

I wonder if the APU and auxiliary source industry was/is ready for the increased interest in their various products?
With the new no-idle rules and laws going into the books, there needs to be a another solution to the problems that'll create.
Where I live, California, there's a five-minute maximum idle time -- and a good day's pay for exceeding the limit.
Sitting in Ontario or Barstow for your re-set? In August -- Pick a year -- try to find a day below 90 degrees. At night. Or a night with daytime temps.
With all the Big trucks parked together, no breeze and the asphalt stays hot all night, radiating heat up, try to relax and get some required & needed rest.
Can y'all imagine all those folks parked in parking lot crammed into the truck stop buildings?
I can.
It ain't pretty.
I guess if y'all can successfully avoid California and, I hear, the Dallas Area, one of those APU's that California won't allow could be a super bargain price.
But, Man-0-MaN!
I don't see how drivers are going to be able to get any rest when the ambient temperatures and humidity are high. And those tiny 'skeeters' up there in Michigan can get through the vent screens. Ever been bit where you sit by one of THEM?
Several times?
Big truck truckers are now exposed to conditions that we watch on those Survivor TV shows.
I think there will soon be a huge demand for APU's. Might be a good in vestment in more ways than one.
Ya reckon.
Are any of the APU manufacturers sold publicly? Stocks?
Buy low -- sell high.
Those seeking a solution to their outlawed units, I'm thinkin' a capitol investment is in order in order to do that.
They sure ain't making as much profit on the outlawed units now-a-daze.
See where I'm goin' with this?
A stockbroker might be able to tell y'all better.
Cowboy & T-2000 --- keep us posted on your impressions on these units?
Thanx.

Ok no one has mentioned one thing that will help fuel millage more than you ever thought. A 5 axle alignment will more than pay for its self in more ways than one. First fuel millage second tire ware. 3rd suspension parts life. Also a slick 5th wheel keeping it greased will help a bunch. I saw some one mention Pony Pack run run run don't walk but run from any one trying to sell you one of these machines. They are a head ache from the word go and always have i have know 3 or 4 drivers that had them and they all eventually had to pay some one to remove them they were only dead weight. SO stay away from them.

I like the ideaof a stand alon but that's probably because mybunk heat is all messed up. however the Thermo King units are so much quieter than the rigmasters. I'd rather park next to a truck idling then a truck running a rig master. They just resonate so badly like a cheap generator. Brickmann like the pony pack I know but I've never heard on of them run.
