eventually you will see that using hours is like a game of chess
you need to think 3-4 days ahead or more to manage your hours so you can keep rolling
until you want to reset i have even gone on duty for 15 minutes just to break a reset
but like i said it is a chess game you dont always win

Time to roll. The weather died out earlier and I'm shooting for Mt Vernon today.

Gang, I am stopped at a facilities less rest area outside of Bluefield WVa. Made it here last night with 15 minutes to spare. Wastrying to stop earlier at Tamarack but couldn't find parking and decided to keep going. My load is NOW LATE. TA was calling me a bit yesterday asking me if I was hooked to my trailer and how come I was so behind. My load will be 5 hours late. Kinda surprising since I had been early on my other TA loads, but the shippers at National Beef took 12 hours but had my load three hours before drop dead time. So, I needed to drive 8-9 hours during the overnight to make this work, but was only able to go four. I should have filled up and scaled before I went to bed, but waited to do that until Monday afternoon when my 10 was up in Salina Kansas. My inability to sleep during the day was key on Sunday while waiting the 12 hours for NBF. Also, maybe if I had gotten to NBF a couple hours earlier say 7am instead of 10am (actually 9am had to go refill the reefer I was dropping) I might have been loaded sooner and could have gotten a few more hours driving in Sunday night/early Monday morning. Johnboy, you were right again. The consecutive 4am starts the previous days were catching up with me so I did not leave Belle Plaine until 0530. Anyway, can't ask for detention with my load five hours late. Not that I would get it anyway. Oh well, at least TA wasn't screaming at me. Must do better at planning next time. Well 90 more minutes then on to Greensboro. 155 miles away. Rats.

^ It happens. I felt drained my first two months or so of driving. After awhile, my body started to adjust.

TransAm might feel butt sore if you make a late delivery but the real problem is if the receiver will unload a late load in a timely manner. That is the real consequence of delivering late, if you get stuck having to wait a full day, unpaid waiting to get unloaded.

Thanks Passport. Since I am running on recap less than 5 hours today, I don't really care if I get held up. My fault, I take ownership on this one. I will learn from this. My longest run to date. I will learn to plan better. Thanks again.

^ No probs. Have you tried using a split break yet?

If you put your log on the sleeper birth line last night, you would have likely regained enough time on your clock to drive your last 155 miles after 8 hours on sleeper birth instead of having to wait the full 10. Three hours late instead of five for your current load.

    gntorres61 Thanks this.
