Last time I chatted with a recruiter they were still taking Recent Graduates from IITR on the I-5; about two weeks ago. After IITR I went with Schneider. Remember to study that pre-trip and don't sweat the road test; not going to say it was easy, but by the time class are over you will know enough to pass. After all I did.

I drove from Charlotte to Portland OR last week, saw 1 Heartland Truck, 4 Gordon Trucks, 1 Gordon Tractor pulling a Heartland Trailer, this was from Charlotte to Salt Lake, after Salt Lake, saw a lot of Gordon, 0 Heartland, would rather see Blue than Red.

They would be a good starter company to go with. Their drivers are dropping like flies though. I got a message on my QUALCOMM recently asking for anybody who wants to earn some extra money to get do TRUCK RESCUES because tons of drivers are tired of the crap and just leaving there trucks out on the road.

Going pretty crummy on our end. We're looking for best options for an exit plan. Issues we're having are:
1.) Can't keep the trucks running for longer than a week before it has to head back in the shop
2.) Unable to get any communications w/ planners, dispatch, & DMs. Get some kind of goofy load that won't work with the hours you have left or won't make on time because of poor (usual) planning? Don't expect to get a response back when you message them explaining why their planning is screwy and _do_ expect to get treated like a brown smear on their shoe when you try calling after hours of waiting for a response.
And no longer allowed to do yard drops if the load can be dropped early. It's like they can't figure out how to make that work now that Heartland has taken over. Used to be if you were dispatched to pick up an 800 mile load and they wanted 3 days from the pick-up, you could drop at a yard close to the client and get another pre-plan. Now you're expected to sit on the load for 3 days for that measley 800 miles. Seems like planners can't...plan.
3.) Small piece-meal miles. Since the change over we have yet to see a decent long haul. And a lot of it is dry stock. Hardly any reefer (which means less cents per mile)
4.) Can't get home. They'll keep you out days to weeks longer than your requested date trying to work you back home and feed you small little miles while they try to wrangle a home load. The hubby has been getting measly little 200 mile a day (or just sitting on his thumbs for 30 hrs) for the last week while they try to route him home. So no home time AND lousy pay. I understand it takes some maneuvering to work a person home but to keep them out indefinitely while not giving them any miles. Not going to work.
5.) Twice in the last 6 weeks that have scheduled mandatory 34 hour resets for drivers because of "no loads"...but they're hiring like crazy?? -
And this, folks, is Heartland Express. A scumbag company who has no problem screwing the drivers. Get out now kids. Heartland is at the helm and you ain't gonna make no money.

Freight has been somewhat slow lately and yet they are still trying to hire tons of new drivers. They have been sending messages on the QC to see if we know any drivers from "New Century" who went under to refer them to Gordon. Stop hiring so much and give us existing drivers some better loads.
Im not sure how much longer I can last here with all the BS that goes on here. You constantly have to message your DM to get you a load.
