My 14 was done for the day , so thats why I was playing safe.
because I had no more time to be on duty.
I mean technically I never even used all my drive time that day , but I sat at a receiver for way to long . -
Nobody should have to restart anything as long as the drivers are is a safe haven.

You can be on duty as long as you want/need to. You just cant drive once you pass your 14th hour without a 10 hr break.
tangerineGT Thanks this. -
Did not realize that .
The way it always looked to me was that once your 14 was up that was it . No more line 3 or line 4 until your 10 break was up , but then again the way they write some of these regulations you almost need a 8 year law degree to understand .
Hey thanks for clearing that up tho..
Edit : but wait . I wonder why he didnt press the issue for me to get out Of the sleeper then . Hmmmm. -
What violation would that be?Speedemon1084 Thanks this.

Isn't today part of the big 72 hour safety blitz? I saw 5 State Troopers on I-85 south just parked in NC a few hours ago. Looked like a convention, then I remembered that today is supposed to be part of the blitz.

Umm.
I always thought I couldn't be on duty after i was passed my 14 for the day.
But now I am really confused . Why did the cop just leave me alone after that , or did he just want to wake me up for no reason .. if so , what a prick !!! -
You wouldn't be breaking the law by going to on-duty if you're out of hours. The 8/10/14/70 rules limit drive time, not on-duty time.
You can spend 100 hours straight on-duty and it'd be legal. You just couldn't drive again without a 34 hour break afterward (or wait for time to roll over). -
i'd like to hear the scalemasters answer. but he woould have had to log on duty. thus interrupting his 10 and haveing to start all over again.
in a rest area your on state controlled property. but in a truckstop. that's personaly property to which cops have no rights to harrass the patrons.
in utah. you can't get a ticket on personal property. if the cop doesn't know that law and you have to go to court. it's dismissed. after a judge asks a few questions just to watch you sweat.
