I guess depending on your moral compass... but like China said he wants a trucking job, not a physician or an engineer. Would be a long drawn out process for him, versus getting to work ASAP.
Only read the first couple pages so I haven't seen any explanations on why OP doesn't have his credentials, but if he can make an account on TTR and start a thread he's in better shape than a lot of drivers out there. Of course most of us do have a HS diploma or equivalent but no one asked to see it before being hired ✌️
need to drive asap

I'm dieing to know what college takes students without a diploma
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Just because companies don't ask for a diploma doesn't mean they won't look it up.I graduated and hope they never want a copy of my diploma because its misplaced.

How about the ones thinking the op doesn't need a diploma/ged make it a bit easier for him and post the companies that don't require it. I think unless he goes back to get his ged he won't find a job.Don't know how much it cost but there has to be help online to get him the funds he needs I would think.

I just went through this about 5 weeks ago; there are 3 places within driving distance for CDL training; 2 CCs and one trade school. The word diploma wasn't mentioned at all during the onboarding processing of all 3. On the other hand, to get WIA - I had to provide everything short of a DNA sample...

Patty, all you'd have to do is get in touch with the school district. They can send you a copy.

Some do if you can pass a few simple tests. Many high school students start college in the 10th grade by doing online courses. They still complete high school but they're way ahead of most others when they begin college. My sister has a Doctorate and her husband a Masters; they were telling me recently about another new program where high school students also take college courses. The students must be high achievers though to qualify. The program keeps the high achievers from being bored and not using their full potential by the other students that just want to scrape by.

Hey man, when I was teaching, I had one student who maxed out his AP credits (he was home schooled and the tests at his local CC), so when he started at 18 he transferred in as a junior - bright kid - finished his bachelors in 16 months. It's definitely doable; with this new common core ####e, people are seeking out other avenues for educating their children.Chinatown Thanks this.

As an aside, that's why I think this whole diploma/ged bias is ridiculous. I've had scores of freshmen in my classes (all w/ a diploma or equivalency mind you) who were barely literate.

Here's an excerpt from an article I read today on Yahoo news about a family that home schools.
"Kip and Mona Lisa Harding are just your average high school sweethearts with 10 children. Oh, and seven of those 10 children have gotten into college by the age of 12 (so far), and the youngest three are well on their way to joining them.
First, a little about our kids. Our three eldest daughters are Hannah, 26, an engineer since age 22; Rosannah, 24, an architect with her own practice; and Serennah, 22, one of the youngest doctors in the U.S. Navy. Some of our boys are currently studying to become a computer scientist; a musician/composer; and a scholar of the Middle Ages (who currently has the highest average in his college classes). Another child, also now in college at age 11, is considering a law degree."
