    I everybody,

    I have a 1999 Kenworth T800, 18 speed, Cat C12 380/430.
It's been 2 months since I buyed this truck. When I press the clutch, there is always been a noise, I guess the clutch bearing isn't top shape lol. But the clutch and the brake clutch where working right. We (me and my father) adjusted the clutch the first day I had the clutch, and found a spring in the bellhousing. It was about a 5/8" diameter spring, and the "wire" was like.. 1/16" thick. and the piece we found was approx. 1" long. It was not a compression type of spring, but a tension one... (sorry if the description is bad but...... my english is not perfect lolll... I'm doing my best :(.

Since the clutch and the clutch brake were working properly, that didn't bother me too much at the moment.

BUT, today, all of sudent, the clutch clearance went from 2" to like 8". Past the 8", there was only about 1" of travel until it hit the floor. The clutch brake was not working anymore. I had to stop the engine, put it in gear and start it to get the truck going. Then, the clutch was only half disengaging. I mean, if I pressed the trottle and pressing the clutch, it slipped a little bit but it was not fully disengaging. I checked all the linkage, everything I could see was working fine. So I went under the truck and jiggled with the clutch arm directly on the transmission. Then the clutch pedal clearance went back to the original 2" clearance. But as soon as I pressed it in, it made sort like of a pop, and went all the way 1" above the floor... One of my friend was thinking maybe it's the clutch fork, but I wanted to have your opinion to avoid getting screwed up.

One more thing; The shop I brough the truck too are selling Sachs ZF lite pedal clutch. Any of you know if this is good?

Thank you, and sorry again for my bad english!

That spring is from the one of the clutch disks. That popping may have been the clutch forking slipping off the throw out bearing if it's worn out and ####ed to where the fork can't get a good grab on it. Have the shop check out everything, input shaft, linkage, clutch fork, shaft & bushings. If these parts show wear, you can get an input shaft kit that has it all. I have seen solo clutches with problems do some crazy self adjustments like you mentioned, but never an adjustable clutch.

Sorry, I have never used a Sachs clutch. New Spicers will have a 2 year warranty, so compare prices and warranty and decide.

    courielmaster Thanks this.

    Hey thanks for the reply!

I went to the shop this morning and they found the problem. There was another spring that fell from the clutch and got stuck between the friction disc and the pressure plate or the flywheel (I dont remember exactly). So they are replacing the clutch, refacing the flywheel and they also replace the input shaft. (the splines are a little bit grooved.) Tomorrow morning my truck should be ready. It should last at least 500000 km. (dump truck doing local and traffic jam often)

Sounds about right, I've seen that happen before. Thanks for the update.
