Hi all,
I am thinking to get a used (or new ) truck and would like to get some advises. My current truck gets very bad MPG (under 5, car hauler), so I did some research and it seems like new Cascadias are the most fuel efficient trucks available right now. What configuration (engine, transmission, etc) of Cascadia would give me best MPG? Is there any other trucks on the market that would give me comparable to Cascadia MPG?
Thanks for your help.

new truck, take gliders if u dont go to cali. Used truck, take pre emission truck.
br2 Thanks this. -
Open car hauler trailers are generally pretty unaerodynamic, going to make getting good fuel economy from anything difficult.
Studebaker Hawk and br2 Thank this. -
Thanks for your help! I don't know much about gliders, what glider would you guys suggest to get? What MPG can I expect from it?

The fitzgerald claim from 6.8-7.5 mpg with 12.7 detroit non-egr under the hood. Most guys in this forum have gliders like cowpie. He gets 7-8 mpg.

You can get the Cascadia model truck in a Glider configuration, contact Harrison Truck Center for details.

It's funny when someone posts spot on info that gets ignored. 5mpg is good for a car hauler. He'll figure it out after spending $150k on a new "aero" truck, maybe.fortycalglock Thanks this.

Rollin coal, I did not ignore eeb's post, I thanked him for it. However, my truck does not even get 5mpg, it gets more like 4.5. It is "aero" truck, but it has DPF and all kind of problems that comes with it... So I was thinking if I could get a new/newer truck that would not need repairs as often and save some money on fuel, it would make sense to do it sooner than later.

I believe Cascadia would come with DEF engine anyway which defeats the purpose of buying a "glider". Correct me if I am wrong.

Fuel mileage is what it is with the trailer and freight you're pulling. You could pick a Volvo VNL, a 379 Pete, or a glider whatever with whatever motor and it's unlikely you'll ever see better than 5mpg from any of the lot. Your original post leads one to believe you were seeking a truck that got much better fuel mileage. And that barely getting 5mpg for what you do is bad - it isn't. You didn't say anything about mechanical issues. If it were me I'd get a 379 Pete with a CAT.
