Hello- Just wondering if anyone has/had this run- Apparently it runs Canada, ME, OH to VA with everything between.
Just wondering how bad of a headache it actually is. I am from New England so I know what to expect weather wise. But I can only assume offering me .35 a mile there must be a catch-or I could be mistaken.
Thanks in advance.
Schneider NE Regional~Anyone have any info?

Well i dont "know" but i can tell you what i think...You will be pulling a crap load of water with a light weight columbia(super singles, one seat etc..) probably home every weekend..We have a boat load of freight in that part of the country..So you will stay busy year around
-
He wouldn't get the lightweight columbia unless he specifically signs up for the "heavy haul" program.
Personally, unless he wants to be home weekly, I'd select otr. If he wants home every weekend go regional.EggoTrucker Thanks this. -
I do like the run-5.5 days out, 34hrs home. I am just curious about driving in Canada, or if anyone had experienced with this run. I have never been to Canada, and was curious about driving there.
My Dad hauled potatoes there once over 20 years ago in the winter, said it was a rough ride due to steep slick hills.
He was telling me he went through a case is some kind of traction spray he had to put on his tires? Lol!
I did not apply for a specific division, so I shall touch base with the recruiter on what the freight is. -
Running Canada ain't bad. US customs on the return is the biggest PITA.
You can't have any criminal record to cross the border into Canada hauling freight.
Don't carry any weapons into Canada. Small pocket knife is OK... As long as you tell them you wouldn't use it to defend yourself when they ask, Pepper spray isn't legal but IIRC bear repellent is LOL.
The first time, or the first time after you haven't crossed into Canada in a long time, you will be asked to park and come inside and Canadian Immigration with do a background check.
You are allowed 1 carton of cigarettes if you smoke going into Canada.
You'll likely be asked about meat and other stuff. Small amounts of stuff for your personal consumption are fine.
Occasionally you will be pulled for a random inspection where they will go through everything in the cab and trailer, both US and Canadian sides.
Get a US/Canada FAST card to make crossings easier in both directions. With a FAST card you will have background checks and an interview with both US Customs and Canadian Immigration
Crossing either direction, make sure the correct paperwork and barcodes has been faxed to the customs brokers (Not freight brokers), this need to be done usually several hours before getting to the border crossing and make sure that the load has cleared by calling the customs broker or checking your barcode numbers on the customs brokers website (Not all of them had this yet when I was running up there) before getting to the border.
Make sure you are crossing the border at the CORRECT border crossing that your paperwork was sent to.
Expect long lines at the crossings, especially the major crossings.
You will pay a $10.75 fee or whatever it is now if you don't have a transponder for the US side for a commercial vehicle.
Some crossings are training sites. Expect to go inside EVERY time you cross there.
I always have 4 copies of my paperwork. Have customs stamp all of them (not sure what US does these days because the last few jobs I ran Canada was loaded in and bobtail out.) 1 copy is for customs to keep if they want it. 1 copy is for the consignee. 1 copy is to turn into your company to get paid. And 1 copy I keep for myself for when someone loses it and I have to fight for my pay or prove I didn't just sneak across the border.
If your paperwork is correct and barcodes cleared so customs can scan with no problems and you have a clean background, drivers license and a FAST or Passport card that they can scan, it's really pretty easy. I liked running western Canada.pjay Thanks this. -
I responded to their Ad- NE Region running out of Battery Park, NY, because I live in NYC and need to be home as often as possibble. Could you please tell me:
a) What kind of truck I'd get- will I be able to stand up? Do they have raised roofs?
b) Is it terminal or a drop yard? If I drive my personal car there will they let me park it there while I'm on the road?
c) What kind of loads I'm expecting to haul? Will I be able to sleep a few hours at night or I'd have to run all night to deliver? If I call them that I need to take a few hours to sleep, it's unsafe to drive sleepy what's gonna happen? I can't sleep days and run nights- could it be a problem?
d) How much I'm expecting to make (average)?
e) Never worked for them before, heard a lot of stories, but there are some things I have to found out myself. At this point I'd like to know about their way for orientation- I've seen some companies could bring anybody and send home most of them, keeping a few. If Schneider invites for orientation how many chances for the applicant to be approved?
f) If I'd like some time see my relative in Gainesville, FL will they sometimes give me hometime (at least 34 hrs) opportunity in FL?
Anything else you'd consider to share about that NE run I'd appreciate it.

Just spoke to the person who'd give me final approval, and she said that ad was a mistake- she doesn't know anything about Battery Park, NY - closest would be Carney, NJ which is much further for me. But I still might decide to go for it so please if you can answer my questions it would be great.

Jersey is a drop yard yes they have condos Florida could be arraigned your pay will depend on exp and how much you run. you set when you run based on NAT. They are a good company but also have their issues as does every company.

Thank you TennMan I'll keep that in mind

Hello-
I actually do not work for them. I have been chatting with recruiting.
I was told I would get a Freightliner. I would be based out of Shrewsbury MA.
The freight is a variety, and I would need to get my hazmat. I was told .35 a mile. Out 5.5 days home for the 34hr reset.
Orientation you will need to pass their series of physical tests. I believe that is on day 1. If you fail any of their required tests, they will send you home.
That's all I have on them at this point. I hope it helps.
