Hey guys, I will like to find out, from you expertise and experience, how much would be a fair or convenient for an O/O (I'm one of them) to charge in this type of conditions:
work under my own authority
my tractor only.
their dry box
dedicated and daily route. (drive between 7 to 10 hrs daily)
empty one way.
under 80,000 lbs
I will greatly appreciate your help with this. Basically what am asking is what would you charge if you have to do this type of loads?
thank you for your help.
how much would you charge?????

Need more info are these one pick one drop loads are multiple stop just one load a day or? How many miles are the runs....I'll tell you this already your going to have to charge round trip miles!
chimbotano Thanks this. -
Finger print loads ? Tolls ? Location ( fuel higher in some parts of the country) ? Insurance requirements ? Up keep on trailer ? How many days a week ? How often paid ?
Lots more info needed. -
I do not touch the load
no tolls
I fuel in my home state cross the state line and come back.
basically hook and drop.
dedicate route
between 400/ 600 miles per trip.
I just go to one state only. -
All of that doesn't matter.
What matters is how much does it cost to run YOUR truck.
Once you figure that out with some consistency, then you can figure out your profit margin and charge accordingly. -
Competition for dedicated runs like those is such I could never get what I wanted rates rise. Would need $5.35 per loaded mile to make it worth my trouble. I have 11% coming off the top, in your shoes $5 makes me happy.

If you overprice yourself, you'll know the market is beneath you. But, if you underprice yourself, you'll never be really sure what you could've made.
Don't be fooled into thinking a dedicated/home-all-the-time type deal should be cheaper than OTR. My friend ran a dedicated route and busted his butt every day to make almost half what he made doing OTR (his truck, their trailer, their authority, big blue star). Don't let them think the value of 'going home' should be deducted from the value of the load moved.chimbotano and grizzly Thank this. -
In my opinion dedicated runs should pay more money your telling them everyday your going to run exclusively for them and no one else, I have a buddy that does one when his truck goes down he has to call and get a rental he only has three hours of down time and if he can't move it he has to make arrangements to get it moved, last time we spoke he said he was thinking about getting a truck from Ryder because he was having problems and most shops don't work on the weekends so it was buy a 2nd truck or rent one.....see why I say it needs to pay more!!
chimbotano Thanks this. -
It does not matter how much you get it will not be enough!
chimbotano Thanks this.
