that is why my prepass was always mounted with velcro

Don't have pre-pass myself, so if the port is closed, I was never there
You've been-----\/\/\/\-----Thunderstruck!!!

for the record...Prepass and Norpass co-exist on the same sending/receiving frequency....so both systems record the crossing if you have either (or both) systems in your truck.
I was BS'ing with the scale officer in WA on I-82 (or is that 84?)...anyway, he let me watch the screen display on the first and second signal point. Fascinating, accurate weight, accurate speed, accurate distance between axles, and weights were accurate within 140 pounds on all axles. I was amazed.....then he picked out one Gordon truck, and showed me the trucks movements for the past 10 days....both NORPASS and Prepass systems reporting to the computer. -
When your safety guy says we don't use prepass, you are wondering why he wants you to enter all the scales?
This is why. If you work for a fly by night outfit, they don't want the prepass time stamps.otherhalftw Thanks this. -
I just love how everybody is right with a different answer. I know this is old, but believe me if you have Pre Pass and you get into a serious accident or involved in something serious, you can bet your ##### they will check the times. I am a one truck operation with my own authority and love pre pass, I dont match it to the exact time but I just make sure I was within an hour or so.. .Ive been doing this for 25 years and have never had an issue with prepass and logs, even as a company driver.

Thru your cell phone records. A phone leaves bread crumbs in the system for the investigators to track. -
That is another method, but along with that, there are multiple ways to track someone. Almost every major road nowadays has some form of video located regularly along the roadways. They could eve subpoena a private business security video to see if you drove by that location at the time you said you were driving. For general log book violation stuff, this would not be the case, but if one is involved in an accident and the law firm of Burn 'Em and Run decides they want to really ruin your day, they will take the time to find out when and where you last wiped your rear end. You are not going to hide anything. We are in a far more advanced technological age than most folks have even caught up with in their own minds.
