heck read some of the labels from food, its amazing that the food is "safe" to eat, 1/10 ingredients seem to be natural in a lot of items...

Read up on the history of ketchup sometime. Ketchup become the craze back in the late 1800s as a way of utilizing the over abundance of tomatoes. Problem was that it there was no consistency in the color, orange brown, gray and other unappetizing shades ... the solution - red paint.

    Red dye #what?

My view is that my body will use whatever I put into it, to its own best advantage.
And it has done so very well, so far.

    Knock on wood.

I just eat what makes me function in the best way.
    Works for me...

    Guess what?

The best Jello you will ever taste has the most unappealing color.
It is a mix of orange and green, which makes a brownish-greenish color.
    But, it tastes SO good!

I agree but with other foods, sometimes the most disgusting dish can be the most tastiest at times. I will try anything once, doing this broadened the foods I enjoyed tremendously in the past several years. Before I ever went to culinary school I was an extremely picky eater and my diet was mainly processed garbage. I figure just in that first year in the culinary field I have eaten more items than most will try in their entire life.

I do tend to eat more processed crap being in the truck but I prefer homemade any day. On that note does anyone have or tried the burton digital stove? they are more expensive but thinking about getting me one this week. I am also debating on getting a portable gen/inverter, I know I saw one at costco for I think it was around $300 or might of been 400 and get me a microwave and stuff. I would love one of those Honda units but dang they are very expensive. Just wish swift allowed inverters to run a fridge and stuff, if I ever get my own truck I will definitely have all that, already got my beer fridge at home thats just a little bigger than those small units you will find at walmart etc with a separate freezer compartment.

As soon as I get back into my own truck I've got my eye on getting that Burton Digital stove. I'll let you know how it works out.

I'm with you on having a background of eating a wide variety of foods, having spent a few decades traveling the world and working in third world countries. From the "little birds in brown sauce" to live baby octopus tossed into the spicy soup to chasing a live shrimp down the aisle of a sushi restaurant (okay... I was officially drunk that time) I've had to endure (or enjoy) whatever my hosts thought was the most delicious thing they could serve me. This is not to mention the wide variety of alcoholic drinks served around the world. That stuff in China or in Sri Lanka tastes like turpentine and will knock you out.

oh yeah I have tried some drinks from around the world as well and asian stuff is horrid but potent. Only thing I like from other places would be European beers minus stouts, cant stand a stout. I think the worst I ever tried was a chocolate stout....yuck...

By far the best alcoholic drink I ever tasted is Toddy. In Sri Lanka during Toddy Tapping season you go out to a coconut grove and hire a guy that will climb a tree with his machete and a gourd. He cuts the blossom and out pours an elixir that is refreshing, kind of like a cross between beer, champagne, and a sports drink. Doesn't have a lot of alcohol in it, but when the tropical sun is beating down and you're sitting in the shade of a cabana on the beach there's nothing like it. It's apparently loaded with vitamins and antioxidants, but doesn't travel well. One company in Sri Lanka tried to can and export it, but it doesn't come close to the real thing.

Edited to add: DO NOT fight the monkeys if they steal your toddy! There are scores of monkeys hanging around for toddy. Also, DO NOT offer toddy to any monkey that is not the alpha male. He'll get pissed and attack you.

That was the first one I tried.
It tended to fry the 12V sockets, even at lower temp settings.

I use the Road Pro lunchbox oven now. It works great and never overheats the plugs.

    Lady K Thanks this.
