It's not your truck or his, it's the company's truck and that means every little scratch and dent will become some "stupid reason to get stressed". If it was your truck would you have given more than a second thought before realizing it is nothin' and moved on. Speaking of moving on.....do your self a favor, don't sweat the small stuff, it's not a big deal to the boyz back at Chattanooga. Tell the co-driver it wont happen again and then be done with it.

Mega companies that hire students EXPECT you to tear up their equipment. When I started with USX they gave me a brand new prostar with 500 miles on it when I upgraded. The first week out with it, I was trying to back down into a building to get loaded and another driver was guiding me back. He didn't notice this big concrete barrier on my blind side and I hit it shoving the bottom step on the passenger side forward messing up the plastic. I turned the truck in 3 months later when I transferred to one of their contractors and nothing was ever said about it. The contractor I transferred to on the other hand let you know from the gate that if you tear up any equipment, you pay for it.... $1000 deductible that he split with you but wouldn't hit you for the whole 500 at one time. Working for him taught me to be very very careful.
But expect little things like that scratch to happen. By all means pay attention to what you are doing at all times, but some stuff will still happen... not the end of the world. You will back into a trailer or two in a drop yard or at a customer, stuff happens. Just do your best not to damage your tractor and especially someone else tractor like backing at a truck stop.rpad139 Thanks this. -

Your co driver is a jerk. First off, he is a Reservist, one weekend a month he drills. Second, there is no need to moon light, especially being a Private of all ranks lol. You do not EVER identify yourself as military when you call 911 or the police, much less say you're "OFF DUTY Private." There is nothing like that in the Army, it is simply moon lighting and this guy thinks he can play the military card like he is a 4 star general. He is not in any official capacity. He appears to be very narcissistic and I can say with out a doubt this guy is the talk of his unit.
Call Covenant and tell them you still want to work there and you want another person. At least try to get some experience in, because you can not have this big resume with all these driving jobs on there. Make it work and make it clear you didn't quit. If I were Covenant I'd be under the impression you did that if someone called and wanted to be dropped off at the Pilot by your house. Good luck.rpad139 Thanks this.
