I understand people not enjoying their career choices but since the OP has children at home I am certain he will not enjoy trucking either.
As for the pay it will be difficult to make 55k or better starting. Sure, it is possible but doubtful.Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this. -
Chinatown and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this.

Heck if hes pregnant, he dont need to get into trucking, he'll be getting all kinds of movie contracts and talk show invites before too long?

I just watched a youtube video of a seasoned trucker who left trucking to go to nursing school. Lot of times people just want to do something different. In fact, some of us NEED that kind of change. That's my situation. Trucking for me would mean a lot more work and a lot less pay, at least to start. But I need the stimulation of doing something new, even if it's not the most logical change to make.

good luck and keep us posted -
I personally enjoy trucking. However, I am a third year law school student. I have a PhD in Physics Mizzou. I have an MBA Harvard. A BSNE USAFA Should I quit driving a truck and make something of myself?
Not everything is about making as much money as you can. Working for the Department of Corrections is a soul sucking job. I was a prison guard while working on my PhD. I was assigned to work at Ellis Fishel Hospital in Columbia. I stood guard over a man chained to a bed, dying of AIDS. I was there until he died. Then when I went to prison 30 years later, I found that I wanted to get the hell out of the place as soon as I could.
Driving a truck is about FREEDOM. It is a good chance to be alone. The stress of having to watch your back all the time as you do in a prison environment is mostly gone. There are backstabbers with every company but most dispatchers can't make a shiv.
Welcome to trucking and feel free to private message us with any problems you might be having. -
The OP loves their job but the pay isn't there... so they're considering trucking because being a NURSE doesn't pay ENOUGH?
Bass-ackwards, imho.
