ehehehe..hot wrong butten and didnt get to finish last post...lol anyways...i can understand if tmc has to trim corners...hey, they might be needen something new for thier race car...lol, but to screw the folks who was promised a sign on bonus is raw. the ones already promised should still get it. so asking all who ever was promised one, did ya get it or not? and if you are new, and promised one...dont expect it. its amazing how much money this company brings in, thanks to the drivers who work their butts off and sacrifice alot, only to stiff the same drivers when tmc needs to pad their own wallet, they already take nice cut off top of loads, my husband and a few others have hauled loads only to find later that tmc gave price cut to pick up place and never told drivers till after the fact...hence...shorted pay. doesnt tmc realize we all talk and word gets around? do they honetly think drivers ignore each other and tmc secrets are safe? maybe if they would take better care of the drivers they have, they wouldnt need to spend so much getten new ones, hence, lower cost, happier employees, etc...and has anyone looked at the service awards on website??? to funny....hey...put in 20+ years and one of the cheesy gofts ya can pick out is a little tent with sleepen bag and cook stove...oh my...cant wait!!!!! all those years busten your butts for same thing ya can get at walmart for 100 bucks!!! lol, tmc really shows the love fr its drivers dont it!!!NOT!!!!lol

My husband was one of those who reached a year and expected his bonus. Nope he didnt get it but thats life sometimes. He runs dedicated and made more last year than he has in his life. As some others have stated TMC is a good company. Sure he gets loads he'd rather not have, or maybe doesnt get as many loads as he'd like "sometimes' but that happens. He just took some trailers to the yard in Columbia so the post that the terminal is closed is bogus. I ride with him when I can and we laugh as the O/O's blow by us on the highway but its all good. Their trucks are very nice and my husband's FM is cool. In life you suck up the rough times because the good outweighs the bad. He's only had one weekend recently where he was only home for a few hours but we're not complaining. When the truck is moving the dollars are being made and dinner is on the table for the kids. It beats being out for three weeks straight and never knowing when you're gonna get home. Some of his friends who left for other companies now say they wish they had stayed. You live, you learn. I got nothing but admiration for anyone who gets in those trucks, isnt afraid of hard work and puts the food on the table. It takes a special kind of person to do it regardless of who you drive for.

I would be interested in who told you that you would be getting a bonus? Was this supposed to be a sign on bonus, or what?
I have never heard of anyone getting a sign on bonus, I have never seen it Online. I check their website frequently. -
I've been going through a lot of these posts because I'm going to start CDLSchool in Rock Hill, SC in June and have been looking for a trucking company that hires student drivers. Ive been on the "good" company threads & the "bad" company threads and TMC still looks like the best option out there. This is supposed to be the "bad" company thread but there are soooo many positives on it, how can it be bad? It's like so many others have posted, it's what you make of it.
I've spent 20 years, 7 months, and 19 days on active duty Air Force and have loved most of it & hated some of it. Some places I've been stationed were great & some not so great (Shaw AFB...it's not the end of the world, but they have the same zip code...MY OPINION!!!). And it's just that, my opinion. There are many people stationed there that love it, just like any company you work for, some will love it & some won't.
I'm not implying that everyone whose posted a negative thread don't actually have a valid point, but it's just not working for them. -
You'll probably do very well with whichever company you end up choosing. And the really good part is, you will get to choose from a long list. Just keep in mind, your approach is everything with some companies, and your departure is everything with others.
I think TMC is a good choice for many, but not every driver out there, with or without experience. No matter what, your first 6-12mo will be like a new recruit(and you will be). You'll be told what to do by people who don't always know what to do themselves and you'll be expected to do things you just know make little or no sense. And like the military or life in general, pick your battles wisely. Best wishes! -
If you have some evidence of this bonus besides heresay you may get somewhere, otherwise don't hold your breath. -
As for why there are a lot of bad experiences: There are a lot of delusional people who get into truck driving without a clue and expect it to be green grass and open roads, sadly life isn't all like that and they are bitter at their enablers rather than themselves for making a mistake. Find someone else to blame is the theme for my generation. -
Hello to Terry, Rawl, all you guys. Sorry for my absence as of late.. Haven't been here to defend like i usually am... It's sad that i feel compelled to, but it pisses me off that this false information is constantly being put up here by people posting on the behalf of others.
Heres some quick facts. I love TMC. I will not drive for anyone else, period. (I've tried... twice) both times i've went back. My wife on the other hand, loathes TMC and anything that has to do with trucking. TMC keeps me away from my family, etc. etc... But it's also keeping food on the table, nice cars in the driveway, my daughter in private schools and so on.
The fact is, Harley, you've been posting on behalf of your husband for some time now. I'm sure given the opportunity my wife would be on here amplifying everything i've ever complained about by 100 times.. Just like she does to her in laws and friends. They all believe that i hate my job because of things that she tells them. The fact of the matter is, if your husband hated it that badly he should just quit... Or at least come here and post his own opinions... Becuase as it stands right now, I don't see that you have ever driven for TMC, or any other company... And i've seen very little from you aside from your own personal opinions.
It's worth mentioning that people come here for valid information, aka FACTS and not garbled opinions of people posting on the behalf of other people on matters that they know little or nothing about.
You have the nerve to complain about what they give drivers for years of service? Are you kidding me? You're seriously reaching here... How many people do you know that have lasted 20 years with TMC or ANY other company and said "Wow i can't wait until i have my 20 years in.. I can get that cool watch?" Nobody cares. We work because we need to make a living, it's a fact of life. In my opinion you should be happy that they offer anything at all, they are one of the few who still do.
2.5 years now. quit and rehired 3 times, not a single time have I or any of my 100's of friends or co-drivers heard anything about sign on bonuses. Again, facts only here please.
The fact is, trucking sucks no matter who you drive for. You have good times, and bad times. You have to learn to roll with the punches, if you can't do that you're in the wrong business. I believe you would do yourself better if you would spend more time focusing on the positives rather than the very small negatives that you're reaching so far to dig up. If i were you i would be happy that my husband had a job at all, the job that paid for your computer, and the internet access that's been required of you to troll these boards and post your negative opinions on things.
The only downfall that i'm seeing from TMC lately is the people that we're hiring. There was a point in time where every driver i talked to was happy where we worked, we took pride in our jobs, our trucks, and defended our name... Now, everyone would rather whine about the small flaws. Just admit that it's too much work for you, quit, and go bump docks... I'm sure you'll be much happier making 26 cents a mile and never getting home. -
Thanks for all of ya'lls support.
Just curious, do any of you guys know when is too early to apply for pre-hire? I'm still in Germany right now but will be leaving somewhere around the 6-8 of June & start CDL school on 30 June with completion date of 11 Aug.
thanks & hope to see you guys soon.
