WELL Im guessing he is already there BUT--what a BUNCH of HORRIFYINGLY BAD advice--Have any \of you posting EVERY actually been there--if so PLEASE tell me HOW you access the Throggs NECK or the Whitestone from the DEEGAN--I87--seriously? The Deegan Dead Ends into the Triboro--now know as the RFK--and the Navy Yard or what is left of it--is right off 287--which happens to be the opther side(queens side of the Tri-Boro--you just follow the truck route at base of bridge--right back on 287--take it into BKLYN--get of at Flushing ave--and look to your right---there is THE FREAKING GATE--and by the way the ####### VAN WYCK dead ends into KENNEDY AIRPORT--so w/out telling the man to get back on 495 off the Wyck and go back toward town to 287--you royally ###### him--IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT IN PLACES LIKE THIS----KINDLY SHUT THE #### UP---
Im finally at the POINT where I do not care what the admins or anyone else has to say--bad directions are worse than none at all--and bad directions into NYC should be a felony--
and just to throw one more out--if you are going to direct someone to the Deegan--I87 from the GWB--you might want to warn them that since trucks are only allowed on the upper RDWY--he will have exactly 50yds to cross over 2 lanes of fast moving traffic--to get into a 5% downgrade corkscrew--to go down to the Deegan!
Which is why ANYBODY who has EVER given a newbie directions to thew TRI-BORO--I 287 which is where HE NEEDS TO GO--sends them down 95 to Exit 4--895 the Sheridan expressway which leads you right gently to the TRI-BORO Cashbox-
Now to the OP if you havent already done this and NEED decent directions PM me--and IF I have to Ill give you my # and walk you in there MYSELF.....

'olhand have you been there recently? It's one lane to move right (unless you're in the left lane, then it's 2), and when has traffic EVER moved fast through there?
whitestonetrucks Thanks this. -
^^^^LOL--yup just week or so ago--and considering the daytime you are right it is a crawl--and then you have to run someone over to get on the corkscrew--but early AM--won't be the 1st time Ive had a cab or five race off the lower deck at a hi rate of fuel consumption---

Psh... I just flip on the turn signal, put it in 6th and idle on over. It's NYC. They know I'm coming over, and they know they need to move.
teddy_bear6506 Thanks this. -
Thanx for lightening my Mood--Windsmith--and yup sometimes I dont even give em that--even took a couple of em w/me onto 87 even tho they didnt wanna go(back when i was younger of course-LOL)
and for any of us who run up there regularly--its all part of the deal--but the OP is new there--again why I posted way I did--If we are going to help someone--especially someone quite possibly already apprehensive--IMHO--it is our responsibility to try and make it as easy and smooth as possible

That made me laugh. Years ago, when I was terrified to drive in KCMO, a friend told me it's not hard, just put the turn signal on and pull in. "I'm not asking permission, I'm telling you I'm changing lanes." Since then, I live in KCKS, and I've driven through Chicago, Indy, Gary, Atlanta and I've survived 'em all.
