I believe that it's a good law, and all drivers should be paid for it.

Ideally between the 5th and 8th hr after coming on duty or uou may end up taking 2 30 min breaks.
What about us day cab drivers????

I feel sorry for what happened with Tracey Morgan and the others. I wish everyone a very fast recovery.

That crash would have been a whole lot worse if the driver didn't hit its brakes at all. We are talking about a 80,000 LB machine which makes that Limo Bus look small in comparison with that semi. Sadly, this creates more hatred for truckers in the public eye. Truckers are the best drivers on the road without a doubt, and truckers have never been credited enough for the work that we do on a daily basis.

When I ran solo I always liked to start driving at around 1 am to 3 am. That way I could often get through a metro area without traffic, have a chance to see the sun rise with the drama of the "golden hour" lighting up the landscape, and most importantly to finish my day early in the afternoon and have the "pick of the litter" for parking spaces at a truck stop or rest area. Most folks seem to start driving after the sun comes up, and then it's FUBAR when they arrive at a truck stop to finish their day.

I think we're going to see a backlash on these so-called "buses" as well, because they're just rolling death traps because the manufacturers somehow managed to get excluded from most passenger safety regulations.

again with the hope i don't kill someone. is that ALL the excuses you all can come up with.

the law states that a 30 must be used. NOWHERE does it state HOW it has to be used.

we weren't killig anyone BEFORE the law kicked in. why should NOW be any different.

Mainly because there's more trucks are on the road and highways are heavily congested.

Not to mention that there's no line for a shower early in the afternoon or in the wee hours.
