"Enjoying" a few days at home while my truck is in the shop. Enjoying, in the sense that the head cold I caught on the way home is finally starting to clear. Truly the downside to spring/fall weather. Doze off with the apu set for a/c and wake up at 0400 and it's 48º outside (last stop Saturday night in Greencastle, PA). Cold temp + lots of air circulation = near automatic head cold for Red. Worst part I wasn't even sleeping on top of the covers in my clothes like I would at a shipper to bring that on. Tucked in under a thick comforter. Oh well.

The clutch brake in my truck has been pretty much used up for the past two weeks. The clutch was also barking a little when engaging, so I suspected a pilot bearing problem and scheduled a shop visit. I did get a little ray of hope when I adjusted the clutch in my driveway before my last trip to PA and that noise went away. That hope just got snuffed out with news from the shop that, yes there is an issue there, only it's the input shaft that rides in that bearing. So the part is not too pricey, a little over $100. Except for the thousand or so labor to get it inside the transmission.

The good news is: this story didn't involve a tow truck and more broken parts, a load in my reefer, and a visit to an unfamiliar shop. My regular shop is getting the work done right for a fair fee and I'll be back out there moving dead chickens around in no time. And I guess recovering from a cold is better done at home. So besides the zero revenue, it's all good LOL.

Pilot in Higginsville, MO until my break is up anyway. Might try to get this mail load off a day early. I know they use to let you do that, but I think they go by appts. Just a little nervous about a Saturday delivery. Don't think I ever delivered to one on a Saturday. Well It's nap time. See you on the flip sideeeeeeee.

Getting fussed at for missing Father's Day? I thought it was your day. I feel for ya though. My son is coming home from college tomorrow for Father's Day.

I got dispatched on an out and back load that gets me home Saturday night if everything goes well loading. I did the same load Monday and the tank was rejected and needed another wash out.
That cost me an extra night out.

Sitting at the Grand Bay TA in Al for 10.

Flying J. Resaca GA. Open window on Saturday in Shelby, IA and taking Sunday off so no rush. Already preplanned out of IA for Monday headed to Front Royal VA. According to the GPS it's 704 miles to the Oak Grove, MO Petro so that's the goal for tomorrow. Only 13K in the box so I'll be waving and laughing at all the slowpokes going over Monteagle tomorrow. :biggrin_25525:
