Lost CDL for 1 year for DUI refusal - options?

Dude you are screwed for the next couple yrs as far as CDL driving goes.

Only 13,000 miles of experience in the eyes of insurance companies and trucking companies is barely a blip on the radar. With a DUI and refusal on your record you have another black mark on you.

Good luck, you won't be a driving a semi any time soon.

 

I believe the military is a better choice anyway.

 

Just because you can BUY a truck doesn't mean that you'll be able to put it on the road.

You're insurance is going to be through the roof on your own truck. Plus you get the pleasure of dealing with the FMSCA on getting your authority, with a DUI and all that stuff.

Spending $100k on your own truck because no one else will hire you is a BAD idea. Ask yourself this question when buying your own truck: Would YOU hire YOU with YOUR record?

Stick you money in International Bonds (the only thing that's paying right now), and drive in the military for 5 years. Buy the time you get out, you'll have companies beating down your door to hire you, you'll have enough experience to know what you're doing, you'll have a GI bill, and you'll have $200,000 in the bank.
