I've probably owned more manual vehicles than you've had Hot Wheels, kiddo...
But the fact remains: the gear ratios translate to the same RPMs from gear to gear.

Any idiot knows that.....but the question was not necessarily about the ratios. It appears to me, that you might not know what you are talking about (again) so instead of trying to sidestep the question with "the fact remains", please tell us how many miles have you logged sitting over top of a manual Eaton Fuller so that we might all gauge your qualifications. Do tell Mr. School Bus Driver.Last edited: Jun 13, 2014

Zero.
How many miles have YOUR spent atop your magical variable-ratio** warp-drive transmission?
**otherwise known as a CVT, "continuously-variable transmission" -
Oh my. I'll let you veterans hash it out. Like they say, you drive your rig & I'll Illinois mine.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
There you go. Unqualified again.
-
Well at least he's honest. How many million miles do you have?
-
300,000. What was the point of your little quiz by the way?
-
And I darn sure don't go around saying "Old Timers" they are the reason for the HOS rules and how they have no regard for human life blah blah blah. Are you a troll too now?
-
Easy does it. HOS have been around for a long time. More restrictions will always be imposed on the Industry. One thing is for sure. It takes a lot of miles and a number of mistakes to be an old timer. The guy that has 10x's the seat time is someone to listen to.
Lux Prometheus Thanks this. -
How old are you, exactly? Because I'm old enough to remember seeing the nasty crashes that occurred on the freeways with frightening regularity, many of them caused by wired-up stoned truckers who either had psychotic breaks or their bodies and minds gave up when their endocrine systems crashed after the drugs metabolized.
There's plenty of reasons for ANYONE to demand a safe working environment, you of all people should be demanding the same thing.
Back on topic: unless you're sporting a CVT, every shift up or down will be the same rpms, every time, not counting skipping gears.
