BTW I prefer a tablet on the truck, I don't trust my laptop hard drive to survive the constant bouncing.

It will be harder to find time to use the laptop then it will be to charge it! All truckstops sell small 12v cig lighter inverters that will do the job. I highly doubt you will have much time to use a laptop during training though. I do have one I use when Im solo. But I also train and its not often that myself for my students have time for anything like that. Normally you will be so tired that once your stopped you will call family .. tell them your alive and kicking.. then pass out. This is just my opinion. But maybe you will get a trainer who doesnt run as hard as I do .. Or as hard as my trainer did. But figure you will use 10-14 hrs a day driving. Plus you must learn all your cdl pretrip and backing for your test.. and you will need to learn scanning/qualcomm... paper log book ect. Then you figure in a truck stop dinner and shower. Doesnt leave much time for anything else but sleep. Once your solo you will have more time for tv/laptops ect.

I've filled out applications for a lot of trucking schools. One of them was Millis. After researching all the companies, Millis is definitely my first choice. The vast majority of what I read was positive, so I'm really hoping they call me on Monday and tell me I was accepted.
I'll be going to the school in Conley, GA. I can't wait to start driving. -

When I was in the trainer's truck, I had my laptop. Room isn't an issue here, I mean it slides under the mattress and mine weathered the storm just fine, However in the 17,000 or so miles I ran with him, I only used it maybe four times and most of that was to post here, watch a couple You Tube videos and do a little research. I MIGHT have gotten five hours of use out of it. You honestly don't have time, and when you do have time you don't want to do anything but sleep.

Is being with a trainer as bad as it sounds?.... And how long does it typically take to get it over with?
-
Depends on the trainer...and about 6-8 weeks usually.

Thanks guys.. I start training in a few weeks.. The being with a trainer part just doesn't sound appealing to me at all... Hopefully it works out

Will a laptop in a case really bounce enough to cause damage? That seems like a really rough ride. Not expecting luxurious comfort by any means, but certainly figured a typical padded laptop bag would be enough. Maybe I need some extra foam?
