Last time we were there the place looked like a dump! There was trash all over the place. I would bet that no one had bother to pick up the trash in months.... It wasn't just normal type trash either.... There was cardboard all over.

Wow ugh i didnt realize the ta in north bend wa would be so full at 6pm. I planned to stop here. Tons of trucks on the ramp so i parked on the ramp. Gotta get into auburn at the crack of dawn to get rid of this galveston load. My last 3 weeks have been awesome with loads. Ive also managed to keep ontime delivery the last 2 months. Still ben my dm in rochelle says dont be late like im late all the time. Wish i could get a thank you and good job out of him.

He says it all the time to me even though i am on time. I am going to be in salt lake soon to take those training courses. Central has been begging me to train students and its getting irritating. So i figured i would give it a try. Its going to be hard having a newbie behind the wheel of my truck. Any advice would be appreciated.

Dont you just love it when you get a real long load and then it turns out that they dont have much freight booked where you delivered. They had a local load and said they would pay me 75 dollars from helping them out with it. Turned it down because the cost of fuel was more than the 75 dollars so i wouldnt of made anything out of it. That and my experiance with local runs like that is i get detained by the cosignee when i get it there because normally when they ask me to do that the loads already late. That and i got a parking spot at the ta in north bend wa. Was it stupid of me to not take it? Another driver was telling me that the planners remember this stuff. I just told him that a company truck could do it.

DragonHalo, this is one time that you are actually being HELPED by us getting so big and automated.
In the old days, DMs did remember this stuff. And some of them held a grudge. But if you have been in the dispatch center lately (some people call it the war room), you will notice that everything has been automated ever since we went to electronic logs.
The software will use a flow chart looking for the closest truck, then the closest truck with the available hours, then the closest truck with the available hours that does not conflict with an already scheduled load or scheduled hometime.
The fact that you turned down an unprofitable load doesn't even enter into the software.
So in this case, that is good.
BUT...
In general, I miss the days when I could do my dispatcher a favor and he remembered it and would do me a favor if I asked. That way people had an incentive to do a little extra here and there.PSUMoose Thanks this. -
A sad day when the forum gets no posts in a full week. Things must be bad at Swiftral these days.

Still want to hear from any driver for Central who was on the west coast Kraft fleet, DM Roger. How's things going? Is Roger still around?
