Ball joints??
-
should have stated its the drives
-
truck's don't have ball joints thay have king pin's
-
Shocks. When was the last time they were changed?
-
Ball joints on the steering linkages, test them by squeezing them with a very large pliers, if they click or you get a knocking feeling you got wear in them , checking the kingpins is a good idea too.
-
Could be but I reckon if it were shocks it would have 'cup' wear
-
Tires wear like that when air pressure is too high or low..also something has to be out of whack considering that's a drive tire(check tire pressure)

Im confused, is the failing tire a wide based drive? Hard to tell from picture. Both steeres were replaced 15k ago and this tire has 160k? Did you check all 3 axles for alignment? Its hard for a trailer to screw up truck tires unless they are way out of wack. Generally the trailer will just off track. Contact Mike Beckett from MD alignment though. http://www.mdalign.com/ He knows everything there is to know about tires and is quite help full. He it quite literally a tire and alinement genius. Also, did you check alignment yourself? Did you drive the truck forward before checking? TA/petro and other express locations have no idea how to check it properly.

Do you use the jake much ? My old dafs used wear the inside of the inner drive axle tyre on the right side ( side with the longer half shaft ) from using the retarder a lot on mountains.
