So here's my dilemma,,,, I have an opportunity to get my hand on a C-16 7CZ fully dress + RTLO209118B ( 300,000kms since both rebuilt) for a glider kit project I'm doing. I read through forums to educate myself because I am no expert and some advices I got from people, is I should go with a C-15 6NZ with a performance package (Borg Warner or Garret turbo with bigger maniflod) and a ECM C-16 reflash to get the 650 hp I'm aiming instead of the 7CZ option I have on the table right now. All this because of the liners problems on the C-16s. I like to think that there is no replacement for displacement but again I want a good trouble free engine for that built.

So if I was to get that C-16, who would be the best place to take it and have it all taken appart, rebuilt again using OEM Cat platinum kit, upgraded with a performance package to make it a reliable ±750hp torque monster in NE USA or eastern Canada?

If this man recommends a C-16, then I think thats the one to go with. If the money difference is small, then its an easy choice.

The MAN also suggested a MXS/NXS if correctly built and tuned, can be a big torque motor

those engines are better than bxs. Not the fan of acert but prefer 6nz/mbn over acert.

Ya but with all the issues of building a glider here in Canada, my best option is MXS/NXS

if you have your hands on a c-16 go with that over a a-cert converted. liner problems are not an issue if the protrusion is done right on a c-16 or any 3406 engine's. I have had converted a-cert's and pumped up 6nz's. and now I run two c-16's. C-16's hands down! you will love the torque of a C-16 over any other c-15 engine.

second choice then would be an a-cert single turbo with low compression pistons then. still will have the long stroke crank with one pc pistons. a bxs would be first choice. easier to convert than the mxs or nxs.
